Yes, that's it. and it needs enough clearance for the phone in an otter brand case.

Another idea might be a full width shelf in that space, obviously still with enough room to put the phone on the charging pad.

Here's a picture of the device in the link above. It's exactly what I wanted re: voltage monitoring and the blue display fits right in. Couldn't be happier. It's not the cheapest option on Amazon but I like the 'look' and got a couple more high-quality USB power ports thrown in.
