Just the 2014 4Runner Trail in my profile pic. Only upgrade from stock are the 275 KO2’s, so one size bigger than stock. Side note: although the KO2’s ball up in sticky clay soils (not a mud terrain tire), they’re phenomenal everywhere else and I highly recommend them.
Fuel cost was recently eliminated from my decision (company gas card). As a result, I’ve just pulled the plug on my order after driving to my hunting camp. Hard hits to the wheels/tires in washouts made me wonder if anything short of a body on frame would handle it. When I was looking at...
I had the same thought, but after researching it seems the real world mpg in the FX4 ranger is significantly less than the Mav’s quoted 20/24. I don’t think there is any hope of eking out 26 mpg in a Ranger FX4.
I’m running the same calcs, except I’m coming from a 5th gen 4Runner with KO2’s getting 16 mpg average, and looking at the lowest Tremor around $31k. Doubling my fuel economy would make it a no-brainer, but adding 30-50% is a tougher decision. I do need all four wheels of my vehicle to propel...
If the data presented by the EPA or Ford were in a format that could be broken down for individual driving habits (say, mpg at cruising speed x, y, and Z), I might agree with you. Unfortunately, they are not. As a result we are left out of their black box of testing, and can gather additional...
Thanks, I think I had skipped that one. They got 19/24. Not sure if that was a pre-production vehicle, but it seems like they did a pretty thorough review.
Seems like there would also be opport
All good, I like to hear multiple points of view. Maybe we’ll catch the eye of a lucky Tremor owner sooner or later, though! 🤞
I’m aware it’s early and anecdotal information, but if people are eking out 22 mpg or less on the highway, I’d rather know now and make a more informed decision.
Can some of the new Tremor owners comment on their real world fuel economy for us? Highway mpg is more important for me, and I’m trying to determine if I need to change back to an FX4 4k tow. Wasn’t expecting to see that 24 mpg estimate on the Tremor from Ford. Thanks!
I know it has a different rear diff, different front chin, lift, and bigger tires, but none of those seemed THAT drastic. I think I’ll stick with it, 24 is a lot better than my 4Runner’s 16, but I was thinking 26-27 when I ordered.
