  1. Beach was easy

In my younger days, life was a beach. In S Louisiana there was a beach called Scofield Bayou beach which was an outlet into the Gulf, an inside beach, reachable only by boat. it was part of the Gulf facing beach. Spent many days and nites on that ā€œfingerā€peninsula. Great fishing there. The bayou...
  2. ILSAC GF7 Oil and Mileage

I think one should look at the specifications list of each brand to see if they comply to GF7. Ford now refers to 971-A1 oils over the former 961-A1 types.
  3. Ford Maverick outsold the Ridgeline 3-To-1 Last Year šŸ›»šŸ’Ø

I looked at the Ridgeline before the Maverick. Nice truck. But expensive. Also looked at Nissan. Tried the Maverick. It’s cabin ā€œfeelā€ felt so much better than the other two. And better price.
  4. Ford Maverick outsold the Ridgeline 3-To-1 Last Year šŸ›»šŸ’Ø

Word now is Hyundai dropped the Santa Cruz model.
  5. Do you go 7,500 - 10,000 miles for an oil change?

Im leaning toward 5,000. But do oil sampling first to ascertain condition of the oil. So far use Motorcraft blend and full synthetic, now on Quaker State full synthetic. Samples of each type exhibit low viscosity and evidence of shearing, otherwise good. Last sample of the QS oil had good TBN.
  6. Spin on transmission filter

From what I understand…..The transmission filter is inside the transmission. To get to it, need to remove transmission and prob open it. One would think after 10k miles, prudent to drain, add new fluid, and hope initial break in contamination removed, and tranny good for life thereafter, hoping...
  7. Trailer Module Recall

Had truck serviced in driveway by Mobile Service. Tech had issues doing download. He claims, and I not knowledgeable of this, using his cell phone as hotspot. Says downloading slow. So used our wifi to expedite things. Took him 35-40 minutes. I would have thought it is odd doing this with cell...
  8. How Long Do You See Yourself Keeping Your Maverick? šŸš—

Typically, try keep vehicles 10 years. Wife’s 2017 Escape still here, has approx 58,xxx miles now. Had my 2011 F250 diesel 12 yrs. Had 96 Jeep Cherokee 17 yrs. I am a PM freak, take care of our vehicles.
  9. Never Again Ford! 2022 Maverick needs a new transmission

My beef is dealers don’t want to rebuild. Or their techs don’t know how to do it. My days in auto garage in early 60s we rebuilt most things….starters, generators, alternators, carbs, transmissions, both std and auto, and even engines. Brakes wheel cylinders. Now if I ask dealer if they could...
  10. Metallic Rattle Behind Passenger Dash

Have similar rattle when driving into our subdivision with somewhat rough concrete road, at 25-30 mph. And on other similar roads in the area. I might ask county to budget, add blacktop to this old lime road. šŸ˜ Or get a case of that Good Stuff foam spray, spray, hit everything under that dash...
  11. “Cannot detect key message”

Wife 2017 Escape recently did similar. Changed battery, lucky I had one from last time happened, came in 2 pack. Last time no display, battery was completely dead.
  12. How a Turbocharger Works🤠

Agree of everything said by others. If Ford or other mfrs offer larger displacement natural aspirated engine, I would prob favor that prime mover.
  13. How a Turbocharger Works🤠

Agree to certain extent. Turbos are simple, yes, but engines are not. Diesel in big trucks need turbo or blowers. By design compression ignites the fuel charge. Boosting cylinder pressure helps. Gasoline engines have spark to ignite fuel/air. Don’t really need turbo.
  14. How a Turbocharger Works🤠

Not a big fan of turbos. Makes engines think they on steroids. And adds lots complexity to support this scheme. checked specs on various vehicles. See some are a naturally aspirated. If needed, next vehicle will be natural aspirated.
  15. Maverick is a cruising machine!

I’ve made couple of long distance trips on interstate hwys. Set the cruise control and drive at comfortable speed. Ride comfy too. I was a pilot, point plane in direction wanna go, navigate, set the plane for cruise and fly on. Can’t go any faster, or slower. Same attributes applied in...
  16. Moonroof glass may detach. RECALL APP Warning 26S18

One reason I not like moonroof or sunroof, whatever it’s called.
  17. EVAP Purge Valve Replacement Hybrid

Exactly. My neb always had problem with his SUV. Learned he clicks fuel nozzle till gas reached top of his tank nozzle . Told him not to do that, and why. And how to properly fill the tank. Since he adjusted, no more CEL.
  18. Thanks to my Son!!

From what I read, the automatic off-on issue was a mfr decision to meet any silly EPA mileage standard, not govt mandate. And word is inspite Trump administration may drop it the mfrs could keep this feature. It’s a silly world out there.
  19. TPMS BAD

Did anyone have a phone or computer connected to USB port? Sometimes will get RF interference from charging cable, or phone/device itself. In my old F250, wife was charging her IPad and tire alarm came on. Later learn of the interference, and unplug it. No more alarm. Had a RV with 3rd party...
