  1. How to check auto transmission fluid on EcoBoost Maverick?

There is no such Fluid - as Lifetime. You are gambling and lucky so far.
  2. How to check auto transmission fluid on EcoBoost Maverick?

The Transmission is not sealed. The small black cap on the top is the fill port of the Transmission. Earlier versions of this Transmission had a Dipstick. The Dipsticks are available on Amazon. I bought one for my 2020 Fusion 6f35. I replace the cap after I check Transmission fluid for condition...
  3. Changed the eCVT transmission fluid in my Hybrid Maverick

On my vehicles with standard rear axle I only checked level when I greased the Drive shaft U joints. Rarely changed RA lub unless I was changing something like gears or bearings. With my AWD Fusion internal clutches I change fluid every year. I usually suck out brake fluid and refill Brake...
  4. Changed the eCVT transmission fluid in my Hybrid Maverick

I change 2020 Fusion AWD 2.0L Trans fluid once a year which is every 5000 miles. All other oils/Gear lub also.
  5. PTU Fluid change - friction modifiers or additives to add?

I would prefer to use a lift. But I don't had a lift at home. The lift I could use is 30 minutes away. It's more convenient to do it home as I can do other things - cut grass, etc as I wish.
  6. PTU Fluid change - friction modifiers or additives to add?

I have a floor jack and jack stands(always leave jack in place and double up on the jack stands). I raise the front with tire about 2" off my garage floor. Do the same at the rear. I made cut outs in the front belly shield for the Oil Filter, Engine oil drain plug, Trans Drain Plug, PTU drain...
  7. PTU Fluid change - friction modifiers or additives to add?

I change all (Engine/Filter,Trans,PTU,RA) fluid once a year in my 2020 Fusion AWD. (My PTU calls for Motorcraft 75w140 Full Synthetic.) I drive the Fusion 5000 miles per year -$200. Matl and I do it at home.
  8. URGENT - First Oil Change?

I have a 2.0L Ecoboost in my 2020 Fusion AWD. 1st Engine oil change at about 2000 miles. After that I change Engine,Transmission,PTU,Rear Axle once per year. I drive the Fusion 5000 miles per year. Cost about $200. with Motorcraft Products done at home.

  10. Problems dealer has no idea how to fix

The "Title....." ..it's not unusual!!! My DIL took her 2023 Explorer ST to a Capitol City Ford in Indianapolis to replace the Headlight because of a cracked Headlight Lens. ( It took 5 weeks to complete) They worked on it right away - found problem after problem. Eventually replace a major...
  11. Transmission grenaded

I don't see a problem with Transmission reverse flushes if done correctly. I personally change oils and fluids once a year in a Fusion AWD that only sees 5000 miles per year. I would never exceed 20,000 miles on a Transmission Fluid changes.
  12. Transmission grenaded

You are absolutely correct. I was wrong by thinking about a CVT in a NON - HYBRID vehicles. eCVT are continuously variable in the Electric Mode because of the Inverter System Control of the Driving Motor as you described. It's never too late for this 89 YO advocate to learn. Amen!!! This is...
  13. Transmission grenaded

I need to correct my Comment - No NOT transverse but same as a F150.
  14. Transmission grenaded

The continuously variable output is accomplished via Planetary Gears and Electric Motors driving Actuators. The Electronics come from the ECM. I don't know if solenoids or Solid State devices control the Electric Motors that drive the Actuators. Good discussion!!
  15. Transmission grenaded

True same Trans as a F150.
  16. Transmission grenaded

The Ford 10 spd is a similar design with similar problems. On a positive note my Son has a Transit Van with a Ford 10 spd and Ecoboost V-6. He contracts with Panther Expedited Freight with 680,000 miles and the 10 spd is working just fine. He has done Fluid changes and reverse flushes...
  17. Transmission grenaded

I was differentiating between to basic types of Maverick Transmissions. Conventional and CVT. You are correct that the CVT and eCVT are both Continuously Variable. The eCVT uses solenoids and gears vs the CVT uses a Belt to continuously vary the trans ratio.
  18. Transmission grenaded

Ecoboost is 8spd. Hybrid is CVT.
