The little tax savings using it as a trade in can help offset the difference from a private sale. I also just like being somewhat anonymous to the next owner and having the dealer as a legal buffer in case anything were to go wrong with the vehicle (though admittedly I worry too much).
Love CarMax. I took my car to them the day before going to my dealer to pick up my Maverick and got an appraisal. Kept it quiet while my dealer told me their trade in value for it then pulled out the CarMax offer that was more than double. They called CarMax to verify and ended up matching...
I think what causes heartburn for some people is you rarely see other retailers (e.g. jewelers, clothing stores) charge the MSRP let alone charge above it. Because of this MSRP has come to be assumed by society to be an inflated price nobody actually pays.
Probably a dumb question but can we use the 18% discount code that's available on the accessories site when using points? I don't have points yet to test.
Sorry to hear that, hope you mend quickly and the surgery brings you enhanced mobility and comfort going forward. At least the truck makes for a good view out your window while you recover.
Not sure about the odb2 port but I'd be concerned with the draw on the small 12v battery. One of the issues with the hybrid that people are reporting is problems with the 12v battery discharging without accessories hooked up. The cam drawing power might cause deep sleep issues.
This is the main issue that has me debating whether I'll accept delivery on my truck this month. I can't imagine needing to trickle charge a brand new vehicle every night. I usually only drive 80 miles most weeks so I assume it will happen for me?
I believe the OP mentioned in a reply that he made an arrangement with the salesman to come in on the 1st to buy the truck and when he called they gave him the recall story. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a dealership to hold a truck for 1 day after they've already arranged to do so.
Got it. I wasn't aware of the constraint but that makes sense. I somehow lucked out and my hybrid XLT with only a hitch was built last week. I assumed the hitch would be the least constrained item.
