I had 50 MTE when I filled up. Dash estimate for the tank was actually slightly under at 45.9 MPG.
Warmer weather makes a big difference. This is 8.5% better than my previous tank. Which was also 8.5% better than the tank before it. Weird coincidence.
Yes, I saw that and I agree that it ‘should be’ phased out. This is why I am even considering getting any updates right now. Still skeptical…
Either way, thanks for linking it because it is good for others to see. It seems that we are both paying very close attention to how this develops.
I just looked closer at our respective build dates and it looks like yours does fall outside of the window for 23E09. Mine is due for the three you had done, plus the 23E09 (and a CV axle).
Please keep us updated if you notice your truck acting differently after the updates.
Thanks for the...
I have been watching the ignition timing during these events over the last few months. When the ICE initially starts the ignition timing is pretty severely retarded (~12*) then you can hear the tone change after about 30 seconds of running to 12-24* of advanced timing. I have seen as high as...
There are 3 different problems that have contributed to this from various users on this forum.
1. CV axle failure
2. Engine mount failure
3. Engine damper failure
Either way - many owners have experienced this shake/shimmy/vibration during high torque acceleration and this will require a...
Well done! Your commute and location (climate) are really ideal for this truck. That combined with your hybrid experience makes this almost an inevitability.
I am just happy to be seeing range estimates above 600 miles now that temps are out of the 30s...
I am surprised that you didn't just...
I can't hear anything in your video either. But I do know that my hybrid had the occasional rattle at ICE shutoff before I had this TSB completed.
Based on how you are describing it, mine was not as dramatic as yours is. It might help to bring this up to your dealer.
FORD TSB #TSB 23-2248
I have never seen deep sleep (that I know of) on my 2023. I have notifications turned off for the FordPass app, but have used it for remote starting.
I have monitored the 12v battery State-of-charge as a percentage regularly. It is odd to me that the max that it will charge to is 60%.
I...
Yes. Generally speaking, the truck will start in all electric for parking lots. This is normal - the gas engine is used for acceleration and highway driving.
This is a good general rule, but don't "accelerate slowly" and try to use electric power to get moving. This powertrain is meant to use...
I asked my local service advisor about the issues with the 23E09 recall on Tuesday.
They stated that ford had suspended it until there was an official fix, but that the issue was corrected by an update to two other modules in the truck. This was something that the techs at this particular...
If there are no cabin heat demands I will see 120s as well. 130 is just a higher baseline in all conditions. I really just added the bit about coolant temp to explain that this also plays a factor in whether or not the ICE will shut off.
Just updating this thread to note that I have gone back to the ScanGauge 2 from the ScanGauge 3. A few weeks back I sent the SG2 back to Linear Logic for a firmware update and have since been able to successfully program the X-Codes to view the HVB State-of-Charge. The programming information is...
I have experienced this "surging" at a variety of HV charge levels. Obviously all this is anecdotal, but it does seem to be worse in colder temps. It just seems to happen if you are stationary during the catalytic converter warmup cycle. For most people this is a relatively rare occurrence, but...
Thanks for the follow up!
I have always been under the impression that this shake/shudder was the entire powertrain moving and that this was actually causing the CV axle problems.
I love that I was wrong and learned from it!
My working theory is that there are a few things contributing to CV axle failures in hybrids:
Soft motor mounts to minimize NVH which allow the whole powertrain to shimmy under high load
Shock loads from ICE starting/stopping
CV axle operation angle
But I think the main factor is that these...
