the tap your head trick works but I'm fairly confident there's a QA issue with factory antenna causing keyfobs to be extreme short range compared to others who have said it works through brick walls and titanium submarine plating. learned to live with it. Yes, old app showed a horn/lights...

I've got one of those short range Mavericks too, seems to cap its distance at an arbitrary 20-50ft depending on how it feels on a given day. I tried an antenna extender add on to my VSS+ alarm however that appears to only work for the dedicated long range remote start fob, not the factory...

you can buy the perimeter system and use the XL/XLT keyfob (no 2x) with Lock>Unlock>Lock combination, no Lariat keyfob needed. I recommend not bothering with the extended antenna as that does not work with the standard keyfob
