Make surly the bolt is out of the bottom of the shock, once you have your ride high set loosen or tighten the collar on the shock till it lines back up so you can install bolt back in freely.     Front you will need to adjust collars under spring until the spring gets snug but still able to turn the spring. Then tighten them five rounds to set load. Turn the strut body to adjust height.

    Yes. Disconnect lower shock bolt. Adjust the spring to ride height then lower or raise the shock using the collars till it lines back up to reinstall the bolt. Once installed , turn the collars five rounds up to load the spring.

    The adjustment for the rear is on the springs. The adjustment on rear shock is only for preload for the spring
