Thanks for posting the video. I saw it last night and was about to post it myself.
Fred cleared up questions from half a dozen threads in one video.
Merry Christmas !
@JJMM -
Thanks for the pic and your post, and thank you for your service. It's appreciated.
Out of all of those vehicles in your picture, I'm sure the hybrid in the foreground gets the best mileage.. :wink:
Merry Christmas !
@Backin15
That too.
I'd like to see some data on the difference in temperature and air density between a stock and a "cold air" intake system.
The advertising notes that cold air is more dense, which is true, but considering all the factors involved in achieving that, and nothing that is...
Actually, no, as my friends go across the age spectrum, whereas those I know with Mavericks tend to be "more seasoned", and obviously astute enough to decide to buy such a great vehicle... :wink:
That would be true if the air WAS colder, but in most cases, it isn't...
The "cold air" way back in the day was from the front of the car, where most cars for decades now get their combustion air from, rather than from a tin can on top of the engine..
The new induction system doesn't chill...
Possible, yes.
Likely... The jury is out on that one, but the safe bet is a no.
If they intended on using that name for a vehicle like the Maverick, they would have, but I don't see where it would fit in the lineup..
Is the name really that important? Would you trade in a Maverick for a...
Most "theoretical" performance improvements with "Cold Air" intakes seem to be as the result of some version of an oiled fabric air filter, which are less restrictive and better at allowing dirt into the combustion chamber.
Adding more air than the engine needs doesn't improve anything, as...
If you really want to rename the tailgate, get a thin piece of sheet steel to cover the Maverick name, paint it to match your truck and paint or use lettering for any name you like on it.
Me, I like the name Maverick - It's the Legend of the West... :wink:
According to the local Duck Duck Go robot, "the tailgate width of the Ford Maverick is approximately 50 inches, while the Ford Ranger's tailgate width is about 62inches."
Not likely to work...
You can still get those new old stock points on flea-bay for $12.
It likely helped that they were used across a number of model years.
Likely, the Maverick's parts will be easier to find in the future if the line continues without major changes.
