  1. Car locked me out with keys inside

So this thread was resurrected today and I re-read it from the beginning while watching a hockey game (so I might have skimmed a few of the posts). I have a 24 Lariat with no keypad. As someone who has only locked himself out of a vehicle 2 times in the past, I have not been able to do it in my...
  2. Wife Refuses To Drive The Truck

It looks like someone left the front door unattended, eh!
  3. 2024 Lariat or 2025 XLT Luxury

I haven't had any issues with the sync 3.x screen in my 24 Lariat, and it was a heck of an upgrade from my monochrome head unit in my old GMC. As an old techie I would have liked the over the air updates that the sync 4 has but c'est la vie! I have only had to cold boot it a couple of times and...
  4. Wife Refuses To Drive The Truck

The last time I drove my truck was May 24th at 2:45pm (give or take 2 minutes - I have battery monitor) because of the stroke I suffered the next morning. Since then, my Maverick has been stored in the garage. My wife does not want to drive it. She is afraid of damaging it (even when she is...
  5. Is the Mav the best vehicle and value you have ever owned - hybrid only responses.

74 WTH are you running a car dealership? I have had 4 cars (I was briefly given a used Chevette by a parent, but it was given back when another car broke down in the house) and 2 motorcycles in my 48 years of driving (I started when I was 14). I tend to get all of my money out of cars before...
  6. What are your thoughts on these points against owning a hybrid truck?

Don't get me started on this... the guy who T-boned me years ago had the lowest liability coverage possible. I was seriously hurt (life changing). About 2 years after the accident, we went to dispute resolution and he had to have a separate lawyer represent him over and above the insurance...
  7. Coming from car - will I miss trunk?

I confess I have not read all the replies yet (I plan on going back and reading through), but this is what I use in my truck bed to keep some of most used items dry. Note they have latches I can flip up to lock the lids on if I have to open the tonneau cover because of a bigger object. The...
  8. Gear selector shifter wouldn't respond

You could disengage park as stevj mentioned, or a tow truck driver can utilize a tow dolly or tire skates depending on how they are towing it.
  9. More info on 12v battery system on hybrid (2022 model)

Sometimes it can be extremely difficult being a typical Canadian... so I will simply say welcome to the group. There is a wealth of experience, advice and ideas here. The issue you have has been covered a couple of times. I hope you find it helpful. You might want to start in here; Battery...
  10. Is the Mav the best vehicle and value you have ever owned - hybrid only responses.

It's funny you mentioned that a little under a year ago we sold our house and bought a townhouse with a side beside garage (no way I was buying one with a tandem garage). When I go out for a walk in our townhouse/ row house neighbourhood I see all of the enormous trucks parked on the street and...
  11. Is the Mav the best vehicle and value you have ever owned - hybrid only responses.

I would not suggest Normal and Eco were the same. The trucks are the same for the most part except for the trims and options (mine is a Lariat). I have had my truck over a year, and I have used all of the modes except for Trailer (and let's not mention Sport as it defies the purpose of buying a...
  12. Is the Mav the best vehicle and value you have ever owned - hybrid only responses.

Sorry, but we will have to agree to disagree on a few of those points. None of those 3 previously mentioned modes will intentionally leave the ICE running as you pull up to or sitting at a light unless there is a call for heat or the HV battery requires charging. All 3 (including 'Eco" will run...
  13. Is the Mav the best vehicle and value you have ever owned - hybrid only responses.

I don't get it. I avoid the 'Eco' mode and can achieve awesome mileage in any mode. The issue is you have a change your driving style to match the driving mode. Normal - normal acceleration and regenerative braking Easy on the go petal on acceleration, slightly feather the go petal to...
  14. Antenna base lifted.

That is a pretty lame clip! A tiny bit of torque and the flimsy body metal is bending. The clip should have extensions going out in all 4 directions adding at least 1.5 to 2 inches of holding power greatly reducing any torque the edge of the hole receives if the antenna is twisted.
  15. Antenna base lifted.

The roof does not look flat? The antenna base had to have been wrenched forward to cause this and to have it happen to both trucks seems strange. Does the dealership take the trucks through a roller brush car wash? My roof is flat and the antenna base sits flush still!
  16. It's Happening!!!

I wish when I ordered it was only a 3 month wait... I had almost a year to join and follow the forum, read the manual etc. As for the extension cord you can do what I used to do - the cord started in the house and ended under the hood with the hood closed so the main parts of the cord and the...
  17. Post your Maverick next to ridiculously large trucks - photos thread

It's funny to see how small it looks beside a bigger truck, yet it feels like a bigger truck when you drive it!
  18. 2.5 L Atkinson motor Hybrid has Solid Lifters.

This made me think - I am getting conservatory 60% electric, so if the truck's odometer says 100k then that would be about 40k on the ice, or alternatively if there were 100k on the ICE then the truck would have about 250k on the odometer!
  19. 2.5 L Atkinson motor Hybrid has Solid Lifters.

Hey, don't knock it (excuse the pun). I was more technical (computers), but I loved opening up the valve cover on my '83 Nissan and tweaking the valve clearance then advancing the timing just enough to squeeze out a few more horsepower but keep it purring.
  20. I love my Maverick, but...it's going up for sale soon.

No, I had no idea… I had retired a month before and I was looking forward to the freedom to go and do so many things. I have regained most of my balance so I can go out in the neighbourhood as I wish but I rely on my wife to drive me places. There are signs I might be getting my sight back but...
