I received my 2023 Area 51 XLT on October 12, 388 days after ordering her. I decided to find out how many guitars could fit into the bed of the truck. The results are far from complete. But I was able to fit three Martins, one Gibson, and four Fenders without any trouble at all. Lots more room...
As of this morning, my maverick was in Riverside, California. Of course it might sit there a while. I’m trying to stay in close contact with a dealer without irritating them.
I've been trying to track my Mav based on some information from a year or so ago. The Union Pacific phone tree has not been accommodating.
Two days ago it was in Tucson. The next stop should be Riverside, then Richmond, where it will sit until a semi hauls it to Sonoma County.
Is there any sense...
Years ago I was living in Wash D.C. I had my car - I'm a California boy, gotta have a car - and parking in D.C. was a bitch. One morning I came out to find my Subaru was caught between two vehicles with no more than an inch between the bumpers. Did I say I'm a California boy? I pushed each car...
My XLT Area 51 is built and waiting to be shipped. This is not my first new vehicle, but it's the first I've actually given a damn about.
I've been looking at a couple of accessories I may add when it arrives. I'm wondering if any people have had experience with these add-ons and whether they...
I went on Ford's vehicle order tracking website. Yes, the Mav has been built. Now, the countdown to arrival. Hermosillo is not that far from California, but I assume they've got to fill a train with these puppies. I will give a holler when she shows up.
My truck is being built; or, perhaps, is built. I checked the modules, and they are active. According to OP's first post, that means it's built. My dealer suggested it was already done, too. Now, just waiting to see whether they ship it to Tierra Fuego enroute to California.
Actually, based on the photos I would have chosen Azure Grey over my Area 51; but I don't actually much care. As for "Terrain" - I don't like the color all that much, but coming out of a market today I saw a Tacoma crew cab with an equivalent color. I thought it looked quite handsome.
The bottom...
As for retirement, I'm working on it. But despite having an unlisted number, I keep getting calls from prospective clients, and I keep taking them on. But once the Maverick arrives, I will be hearing the siren song of the road. Got places to go, people to see, with great gas mileage.
Another small dealership story. Mine is a small dealership in Northern California. Not a lot of bells and whistles. I bought from them in part because the sales guy was a Vietnam era Marine, and I spent a bit of time in the Gulf of Tonkin on a ship with about 1,000 Marines.
Straight-forward, no...
Holy Mole (I like my chocolate with a little spice). I had pretty much given up:

Kind of depends on the lawyer. And California has some ball-busting consumer protections, including, in some cases, attorney's fees provisions. The Monterey County DA's Office is also tough as nails. A call to their consumer division might be fun. Finally, contracts cannot ordinarily be...
