I use a block under my carport to let the truck be positioned so all the doors clear the support posts on the sides of the carport and after rolling back, I shift to neutral and release any pressure on the drive system before going into park and eBrake.
There is no way for the truck to know the difference between a potential head on collision from the vehicle directly ahead turning left, as it isn't a full autopilot like a Waymo, but then it also can't drive itself into cul de sacs and get stuck either. :wink:

That seems odd, and braking for a merging car when you use CC rather than ACC sounds like it's a sensitivity issue or error with automatic braking rather than the cruise itself.
Have you looked at the forward collision brake settings?
