Are you trying to convince us or yourself the hybrid is better for long term maintenance? I'm seeing quite a few issues with the hybrids on here... Plus if you want AWD or 4k tow there is no option.
Not sure how all the dealerships are but usually the techs in the quick lane are for oil changes and such, would want to know if they were qualified to do the work. A good tech will be the difference in a good job or bad most likely.
Just checked mine for the hell of it. I have 1500 miles XL AWD and 4k tow and it was $31k, up $4k from last time I checked a couple of months ago. Seems stupid high as I paid about $22k from Granger but yours is insane with only FWD. That seems like the best combo to flip, Im surprised a FWD...
I changed my engine oil at 1200 miles and it was very green as well. Sort of shocked me and I thought it was coolant as well but after some research found that they put dye in the oil to spot leaks as they are most likely to occur early in engine life.
Thanks for posting. Any tips for the ptu and rear unit or was it pretty straightforward? Changing fluids early is very smart and prudent maintenance if you plan to own it for the long haul, plus you get to know the vehicle better when you do it yourself.
Im well aware of the difference between direct and port injection for fuel washing valves. My comment was about the contents of the catch can. If its mostly fuel and water then you may as well just let it flow through the intake/valves and burn it off in the engine.
Just thinking out loud here... if there is alot of fuel in the blow by wouldnt that be a good thing to pull back onto the valves and combustion chamber? Seems like it would help clean them and burn off in the engine anyway.
Yep, ive done this many times and finally realized what happened. Its just a poor lock design, especially if you have big hands and not paying attention.
Do you tow or haul alot with it? Definitely sounds like early failure and there could have been an issue from the factory (contamination/damaged cooler/pinched line/bad tcm/wiring)that took out the 2nd trans as well, no telling. There was a truck posted on here with over 100k on it so they...
I would ask Granger if this would work, they will likely shoot straight with you. It will prob show up in the system as predated and not covered but who knows. Anyway, if I had a hybrid I would definitely keep it under full warranty as long as you own it, too many expensive and flaky components.
Mine has been working great. In normal mode it disconnects the rear drive and basically operates in FWD mode under normal conditions. Also, the AWD uses an independent multilink trailing arm rear suspension design which will handle better than the FWD.
