Just finished a 2-week road trip from just north of San Antonio up to the Dakotas and back in my 2024 XLT Hybrid. Straight north through the prairies and then back down through Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and NM. 10 states, 3423 miles. Averaged exactly 34.0 mpg, according to the trip computer...
Local dealer just replaced the battery that came with my 2024 Hybrid with the battery that my owners manual says is the correct battery. I told them I was annoyed by the constant Deep Sleep notifications, and that I was worried about my upcoming 3200+ mile road trip. Also told them that the...
It rained a bit on last camping night of our trip. I had the rainfly folded back, but got it put back in place pretty easily at 3:00 am. Slept dry and cozy after that.
Had to fold it up wet for a couple of days, but aired it out once sunny again, and no smell. Inside of tent and mattress was...
First trip with my setup on the 2024 hybrid. Lake Sam Rayburn in East Texas piney woods.
mpg takes a hit, but mainly because 1st half of trip was straight into 20+mph winds.
hoped to set up for a couple of days without stowing tent and moving truck, but got deep sleep message this morning...
Tuwa customer service was great both before and after the sale. I didn't look at the taller rack, but the website listing on the mid-rack specifically mentioned compatibility with SyneticUSA cover. Just remember to keep the spacer bar that comes with the cover, and keep measuring the distance...
Thanks!
I drilled a hole in the Ford 12V cover, but I am sure your plate will probably fit better. Now trying to figure out why I am not getting power to the new 12V outlet. Have ordered an Anker power station that I will plug into the inverter 120V outlet and can pass through connect the...
I am also interested to see how my mpg is affected. Haven't driven with it much yet, but I will watch it for awhile and report back. I saw your post and am amazed that yours improved. With my tent a bit higher than my cab, I doubt I will see that improvement with my setup.
I really was trying...
I am very happy with the Tuwa rack, and their customer service. I would have liked a tad shorter myself, but this is the lowest they have right now. I did hear from them that an 8-inch rack is in the works, although it may be more of the foot and crossbar style. On this one, those side panels...
Wanted to share some photos of my new toys:
1. Synetic Retractable Pro tonneau cover. Bought directly from SyneticUSA website and installed myself. (This replaced the dealer-installed Ford hard tri-fold, which I sold locally...)
2. Tuwa Pro Shiprock Mid-Height Rack for T-Slot Rails. Fits...
Chris - thanks very much for your posts about the Tuwa rack and Roofnest Condor 2. After doing lots of research and trying one bed rack that did not work, it looks like I am ending up with the same setup as you have (except on a SyneticUSA retractable cover). Both the rack and tent arrive...
I want to update this list just a bit. I installed the SyneticUSA (Truck2Go) retractable cover, and ordered the Go Rhino XRS rack/crossbar system from Real Truck. 6 inches tall and under $500. I liked the quality of the rack, but ran into a couple of problems:
1) Although the RealTruck...
After much research, I just ordered the Tuwa mid-height 12.5" rack to go on my Maverick with the SeneticUSA retractable cover with t-slots. Customer service was great in answering questions and helping me make my decision. And I happily discovered when I went to buy it that there is a flash...
thanks so much for all of this detail.
I ordered the manual pro retractable cover directly from the SyneticUSA website on Tuesday Aug 20 and it arrived yesterday (Friday, Aug 23) with free UPS shipping. I finished installing it today. I didn't even try to do it quickly - with the heat here...
thanks very much or this info and the tips!
I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this cover - although I bought it directly from synetic usa website instead of Truck2go site.
When you say you took out the "drop-in panels", do you mean the Ford drop-in bedliner? I am hoping to leave mine in...
You can buy the Synetic cover directly from synetic usa website. I notice Truck2Go says warranty only good if professionally installed. I called Synetic and their warranty is good even with diy install. Same cover and price and free shipping. Cover is made in china if that is concern, while...
Thanks Luke. This is a clever and great setup.
I’m trying to decide if the Meadowlark might be a little tight for my wife and me, but I sure like the efficiency, simplicity and easy access of what you have done.
For anyone looking at rooftop tents, Roofnest has a great sale going on now...
thanks for the post and pics. I have been looking at that Truck2go cover, which is on sale for under $1000 right now. Seems too good to be true, when the RealTruck equivalent is $1750. You seem happy with it. Did you install yourself and find it pretty easy to do? I have the Ford hard...
Hi Julie - thanks for the pics and detailed info. Somebody asked about photo of the other side; I am curious as to how you handle the tent window facing the front of the truck. Did you modify the support poles that attach to the bottom of the tent to hold the window awning open, or do you just...
