I already said no to FOMOCO's buy back as I do love the truck and can't find anything else around worthy of replacing it. Only some of the aftermarket mods would've been credited so I would've lost out there as well. I had an F150 as a loaner and it reminded me exactly why I wanted a small truck.
I can vouch that there's some rub after adding 1.5" spacers up front. I had 1.5 F/R and had hardly any rub (only rubbed the pinch weld occasionally if I backed out of the driveway fast while in full lock and compressed). Moving to 1.5/2 (F/R) I have more rub at the pinch (no need to compress...
After finally getting the Mav back (~6wks at the dealer for tank recall/parking brake sensor), I was able to do some more mods. This week I:
Changed out the wheel spacers to be 1.5/2.0" (Front/Rear)...previously 1.5" F/R. They're now hub-centric on both hub and wheel sides of the spacer...
My Mav has spent over 8wks of its short 16 week life at (2) dealerships to fix the parking brake sensor ($7,000 + in parts replaced) and replacing the recalled "tapped" fuel tank. While I understand a good portion of that wait is due to supply chain, it's still very disappointing for a new $33K...
Mine took ~8 weeks, 6 of them with the Mav parked at the dealership. I did have a drill tap on the tank, so it was replaced. The dealership (via Hertz) provided me an F150, which I thought was great at first (until the darn gas prices climbed).
Sorry to hear, but glad you have the truck back. Did the error look like this? Happened more often to me when cold, and it's in the shop now. Been there for both that and fuel tank for 5 days so far. Was told it was a pressure switch, which of course they can't seem to source anywhere.
Pushing hard on the passenger side as the OM states, may work. Slamming hard on that side always works. Slam even harder when there's a car seat using the rear tether.
I don't think you can easily remove the tow hooks. I did not remove the bumper, nor mask. I used a 1/4" brush and Rustloeum protective enamel, oil-based (Gloss Sunrise Red). I think most others mask/spray.
Note: the only reason I hand painted vs. sprayed was because it was too windy when the...
Thanks! Cool on the offset license plate! The decals are matte and avail from ebay and etsy. I was considering both lighter blue, orange, and the carbon fiber background as well, but since there's so much matte black plastic trim and just enough red from the taillights/fx4 decal, I figured I'd...
Similar boat as you. I love the truck, but it's in the shop for the parking brake (which is very annoying because it screams "Check Brake system" and alarms at me while in mid turn). This time, I brought it to a different dealer near my house vs.1.5hrs away where it was purchased to see if...
Based on the color ordering poll, these were the least chosen, in that order: Shadow Black, Rapid Red, Iconic Silver. If the point is to maximize profits, then swap those colors with: Matte Black, Afterburner Red (gloss, flat) and Glacier silver/white (Iridescent pearl, with $750 upcharge).
Thanks @Patty_FX4 ...I agree that the rear could use another .5"/12mm to match the front more, but not sure if that'd mess up the handling/track. Here's some other shots of the rear.
1.5"/38mm will make them flush. https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/area-51-xlt-fx4-build-245-65-vredestein-at-1-5-spacers-buschur-cai-bak-revolver-x4s-lasfit-leds-oem-accessories.8798/page-3#post-209935
This worked really well! Had an issue at first since I was using my member ID vs. my email address for the login, but once corrected and shortcut re-ran, easy peasy. Thanks @Maverick Matt !
I'm not going to recommend the ones I bought, since they are not hub centric on the outside (where the wheel mounts) and had the wrong bolt thread (requiring me to purchase new 1.25 lug nuts for the wheel and 1.5 open ended ones for the spacer). They were purchased in the wee hours of the night...
Some additions before the mav went into the shop this morning (Fuel tank recall and parking brake issues). Forgive her filth...she has yet to take a bath since she was picked up around Thanksgiving.
Lasfit LED's: Bright and easy to install. Great bang for your buck mod. I had to flip/reseat 1...
Xactly...etsy/ebay...The raised emblem decals would look better on velocity blue vs. area 51 IMO. It has a more electric blue tone to it (hence the lightning color name it had during checkout). In fact, I plan to replace them with either a matte black or maybe even red. The lightning look also...
Depending on how far back you mount the rails, especially if you follow like their instructions say, you may not be able to close the tailgate. Slide the rails slightly further up until you find the right fitment (which in my case was pretty much as far forward as they go. With a tailgate...
