  1. First Maverick Wreck (photo) and Trouble Codes

Erie s the one insurance company I dont hear bad things about. Buddy had his house burn down, Erie rebuilt it, and paid for a rental for 18 months, no questions asked, AND told them they were asking for too little to replace what they had. My car insurance is only $800 combined for annual...
  2. Kia has new pickup coming in 2030

I dont see why not. Australia is likely on par with the EU on requirements, so not too different then the USA. It is frustratingly hard to find actual comparisons of requirements. Only one off the top of my head is the chevy SS, which was highly rated in both the US and Australia. Resting on...
  3. 2029 El Camino to Compete Against Maverick?

It's a real shame. Loved our pontiacs of the 2000s, and they all still run all with over a quarter million miles on them. They always could have brought it over as a chevy like they did the SS. Much like the falcon X though, we are cursed to never see them.
  4. Kia has new pickup coming in 2030

I like the looks of the Tasman, look like the future utilitarian design Musk was going for with the cybertruck, but unlike that ugly beast this doesnt look like its from a PS1 game. Problem is that Kia/Hyundai have never gotten the whole third party support thing figured out. The mavericks...
  5. Unhood Insulation

If you have the website open....just copy and paste the link. It takes less time then writing comments. Dont be a boomer with the "well you gotta work" BS. Also why are you taking pictures of a screen? Every ipad ever made can take screenshots, again it is not only quicker then what you are...
  6. Battery price drop.

Yes I remember when batteries were cheap. And vehicles. I also remember when you started making money at $3 and hour. People always forget that last part. A F-150 base model started at 10,371 in 1990. Average wage was $21,000. so 50% of gross wages Today it starts at $39,300. Average wage is...
  7. running 15% ethanol and 91 octane

" Anti-Knock Index (AKI): The rating displayed on U.S. fuel pumps (calculated as the average of RON and MON) for pure ethanol is generally around 100 to 109, though some sources cite it as high as 112–113 based on blending octane values (BOV). E85 Comparison: In contrast, the common E85 blend...
  8. More invasive Ford patents

So you would then have proof that disabling tracking in the menus does nothing? Yes you can turn things off. That doesnt make the tracking OK to do regardless. If someone cannot make payments, that is for the bank to handle. Giving Ford the ability to remote control your car is ripe for...
  9. More invasive Ford patents

Believe it or not, I dont think its a good idea for Ford to be able to monitor your car at all times and just take it from you if they decide they dont want you to have it. Just like I dont want Ford reading my lips and trying to judge my emotions whenever I am in a vehicle, uploading and...
  10. More invasive Ford patents

There certainly is a trend of Ford just patenting the worst stuff then pinky swearing it isnt for us. Like the built in license plate readers that would snitch on everybody, or the auto repo technology.
  11. 2029 El Camino to Compete Against Maverick?

They could have just brought over the commodore UTE all those years ago. We DID get the sedan version int he chevy SS.
  12. Now I want one sooo bad!

IF that is true...then why post about 0-60 times to begin with? Car and driver has the ecoboost mav at 5.9 to 60. Most other places have between 5.8-6.1. 6.8 is a clear outlier.
  13. Wheel of Fortune Maverick prize

All the prize cars suck now. Back in the day, the price is right was giving away cadillacs and lincolns. Now they give away....the chevy trax.
  14. Dealer wants to change my Tranny fluid at 55K miles

Washing will only help in the immediate aftermath of said wash. The moment it touches salt again all the benefits disappear and, worse, you have now introduced salt to a wet undercarriage! If you want to stop rust you need a proper oil or wax based undercoating. Woolwax, fluid film, ece work...
  15. When to change oil in time wise, not miles

Oil going nuts right now because of the Iran conflict. One of the refineries destroyed was one that made the base material used in synthetic engine oil and other lubes. Thanks for reminding me, I need to go pick up some oil, prices wont be coming down anytime soon.
  16. Power window failure

Do the other windows work? Does the window motor make any noise at all? If its just 1 and its dead as a doorknob my first thought would be a loose connector. The door panels are like any modern car, they use plastic clips that can be removed using a plastic tool without damaging the paint...
  17. Dealer wants to change my Tranny fluid at 55K miles

They're blowing smoke up your rear. The eCVT in these trucks is a known quantity, it was used in the escape for a long time. It doesnt need frequent fluid changes. New York stuck to the 100-120k mile interval and regularly got 300k+ miles out of their hybrid taxis. Now the 8f35 in the ecoboost...
  18. When to change oil in time wise, not miles

Looking at the recall list on the Maverick, after things like the backup camera failure, you can understand I'm not so trusting in "manufacturers know best". Its more like "manufacturers know how to get just outside warranty".
  19. A Dummy Discovers the Amazing Benefits of a B.M.S. Reset!

Only if you just turned the truck off. Once it has sat overnight it should read 12.8V. Honestly these trucks would really benefit from using lithium iron phosphate batteries instead of lead acid. They love sitting at 70% charge and dont mind the million little vampire drains.
  20. When to change oil in time wise, not miles

No later then 1 year. Condensation, humidity, and temperature changes will eventually lead o water collecting in the engine oil pan. I doubt you use it enough to justify a 6 month oil change.
