Some chips will be generic meaning they can be used in lots of places, some will be custom and proprietary specific to individual models. I don't know that Ford had said which chips are constricted. It's just my speculation that something like that occured when the Lightning came online.

Saw two in Yellostone Natioinal Park last week when we were there. A Velocity Blue one up by the pass on Mount Washburn and an Area51 one at Mamoth Hot Springs. Hope they made it out before the floods came.
As I have said in other posts and directly to @Ford Motor Company they should include orders (Pre-scheduled) in thier Ford Pass accounts. They have reservations there, no reason why they can't have orders clear through the delivery stage with updates. It would save a whole bunch of phone calls...
I think we should all push for better communication.
In particular, they should add "orders" to the FordPass account so we can track our order through there. True you can add orders now once they are scheduled and you have a VIN, but you should be able to add your order by the Order Code once...
Where did you get that stat from?
According to the MTC database the average from order to build date is 109 days for EB and 186 for Hybrid.
The average from build to delivery is about 34 days for both.
