I like that Ford is being proactive
But I’ve owned “other” vehicles that have the same expensive problem 100% of the time but some examples managed to make it out of warranty first (like mine). Because people didn’t speak up each time it fails repairing it falls on my dime each time it...
Unless there is a crash, fire or a death it usually takes many thousands to report an issue before you might get a recall
That is why it’s critical to report issues like these to the government so there is a paper trail and motivationto fix on Fords dime.
Up until fairly recently our state allowed you to check either truck or car for the plate application, no take backs.
pretty much anything could get truck plates but only enclosed vehicles with rear seats could get car/passenger plates.
Depending on the year sometimes car plates were cheaper...
Or take some of the ideas here seriously
Many folks who like small long box stick shifts have zero options.
PHEV Truck, ditto
Many of us are waiting for someone to make a vehicle we can use that is also efficient.
The hybrid Maverick is about 50% of what I need, and I don’t care about AWD...
If your truck gets this problem report it to the national highway administration like any other safety issue.
Enough complaints now and then if the issue translates from dead battery to fire later in life it’s more likely to get addressed and a recall
Sadly these issues take years before they...
that explains why I’ve always had to oversize the hitch class and mounting
Personally The Maverick hitch mounting system does not appear to be robust enough to tow, give it 5 years in the salt and a bike rack will fall off.
When I’ve made a custom hitch to a unibody the mounting has been beefy...
when towing with a volt or a Prius the transmission does require a cooler and gets quite toasty, still are clutches and drivetrain electronics to cool
I have used a weight distribution on a FWD vehicle , it can make tight turns harder but isn’t a concern during normal use especially when you...
Used to be you couldn’t sell a truck without a long box bench seat stick option
And built in nav is critical for a good chunk of the population
Where I drive my cell doesn’t work, having a working built in nav is wonderful and you aren’t supposed to play with your phone while driving anyway
Yeah unless you live in Europe the “towing” limits combined with the mass inside of the truck arent critical, and honestly more weight in the cab while towing is only a good thing as long as you don’t exceed the weight capacity inside the truck itself by tons.
Ford is quite conservative with...
2.5na
6 speed stick
Bench seat
Long Box
4.k tow, trailer controller, hitch and trans cooler available on every model
PHEV option is sorely needed
With the reports of low to mid 30’s on ecobust I have no doubt a standard 2.5 with a granny 6 couldn’t do even better
What does normal or average have to do with the EPA rating?
Crash tests and fuel economy tests all average out around 45mph at 75F
In my area it’s difficult to hit the EPA rating because your MPGs drop in half during cold weather and short trips.
It’s usually below 60F most of the year most...
You need an aero topper to do that
https://ecomodder.com/forum/showthread.php/commercially-produced-aerodynamic-pickup-bed-cap-583.html
Sounds like you wanted a naturally Aspired Diesel 5speed stick VW Rabbit Pickup, those would get a real 40-50mpg on the highway
Unfortunate nobody makes an...
Bench seat
Long Box
6sp Stick
2.5na (not hybrid) would be fine for a stripper base truck.
Dodge and Chevy are tempted to import their small $9999 Mexican appliance trucks to compete, believe it when I see it but possible .
Both options are small, manual and ugly compared to the Maverick
Why...
in my area
e15 is $3.669
E10 is $3.959
Premium is close to $5
If I happen to visit 12 miles north of here
E15 is only $3.499 there
Well worth it and on my vehicles that “require “ premium e15 seems to perform very well in terms of knock count, also can’t detect any difference in summer fuel...
