I've had mine just shy of a year, and although Mavericks are rare up here, have had a bunch of sightings of other Mavericks myself, like maybe 5 or 6. I spoke with a guy that had only had his couple of weeks, another fellow same... I get people coming up wanting to talk Maverick once in a while...
When I see posts like yours, I can't understand why the terrible fuel economy. It's so completely different from what we're experiencing. This 6.3 liter/100 kms was at steady state 60 mph, maybe a tad faster. That's 37.3 US mpg.
And we usually see around 8 to 8.5 combined. We've had the...
Although the Maverick has that 4K tow rating, I suspect the 2.0 ecoBoost is working pretty hard with bigger trailers and weights. I took our camper out again recently, saw 11.7 liters/100 kms average indicated, gassed up today, hand calculated and confirmed that. 11.7 = 24.1 mpg UK gallons, or...
Today we put on 200 kms highway, loaded for car camping (no trailer in tow). Had a slight tailwind, steady state 100 kmh, cruise on as much as possible. Arrived with average indicated of 6.3 liter/100 kms, 43 mpg (Imp). Indicated is usually slightly optimistic, so around 40 mpg. Edit - got 6.4...
Hypermiling. In one of the gearhead performance threads, I think I'd read that full boost is in by 2,000 RPM. It just makes sense that if you keep the rpm down, drive it easy, accelerate slower etc., particularly drive slower on the highway, fuel economy will improve. The wife and I both drive...
I towed for the first time yesterday, hauled our camper to a nearby campground 55 kms away. Average fuel consumption was 11.5 liters/100 kms indicated. Mind blown. Our camper has about 43 sq ft frontal area (max recommended is 40), and is light and aero. I was getting only 15 to 17 mpg towing...
Slowing down makes a huge difference IMO. Our average fuel economy took a nose dive in winter, but I've seen it pop back up to pretty impressive figures. Averaging over the last two fills, 60.65 liters used over 780 km = 7.77 liters/100 kms. Indicated was 7.5, so pretty close. That's 36.4...
Thanks for sharing. We have pretty much identical truck, colour, trim, 4K tow. We haven't towed our camper yet. 12.1 = 23+ mpg (UK), very impressive! I have a letter from Ford here with a recall to re-program the trailer brake controller. Our camper is light, has surge brakes (which I don't...
Thanks for this, it explains what I've been feeling and seeing. We've had our Maverick over 6 months, and have just under 5,000 kms on it. Under light acceleration it feels like it jumps thru the gears fairly quick, and you can feel the shifts. Now I see that it skips a gear or two, to get...
You'd think they'd have made it possible to install "accessory" tow hooks and fog lights down there (on the non FX4 trim)!? Ford, are you listening? Doesn't seem to be anywhere up front to easily install LED auxiliary lights.
I'm no fan of such a smaller engine in a Maverick either. Cylinder de-activation is a problem looking for a place to happen from what I've read. The 2.0 ecoBoost in our Maverick has been excellent so far. My Dad has an Escape Titanium 2.0eB/tow package, loves it.
All the Jalopnik love here makes me laugh😆
While I'm not in a hurry to join the all electric bandwagon, I am impressed by how compact the Ford motor is:

I could see that happening in a 2023 Maverick, as well as the 3 cylinder 1.5...
That was my thought too - check out the specs for their electric crate motor, a perfect fit for the Maverick:
