That's interesting—I never thought to flat tow a Samurai—the one I had was epic and I regret selling it all the time. Now they're obscenely priced. Now that you mentioned it, I do remember my brother-in-law replacing axles on his rzr all the damn time...maybe a couple dirt bikes are the answer...
Clean and chest high at Agate beach for about an hour...Strong longshore current. Surfed the mouth of the Rogue River (south) on a midlength and had good chest high waves coming in—just me out there. Every other spot was messy and paddling practice haha
Hey, All: Upgraded my tires to Falkens. Looking to sell stock Scorpions to anybody looking for budget replacements. They have a little more than 5k miles on them and no scrapes or punctures. Some offroad use, but mostly soft sand. Lots of highway miles. If you are in Orange County or inland...
I used Sand mode and did not air down. Was running at 40 psi because I felt truck rode better at that on those tires. Stock tires. One turn I made on a dune trail I had to slow to watch for traffic. Truck started to dig and I just punched throttle half way and made the turn. Dug itself out no...
Yes—you make exactly my point...Still...I am NOW wondering how my Mav could do towing a modest side by side because, you know—those obscure spur trails are still pretty fun haha.
Agreed. I've been driving a lifted Impreza with ATs and I have put that vehicle into some challenging places. The Maverick is WAY better than that so far. I have also extensively driven built Samurai's and a 72 Bronco...A vehicle like the Maverick is better than those 99% of the time. The 1%...
Hey, All: Did an epic road trip from San Diego up NorCal, Oregon Coast, into Portland, Coeur d'Alene, Boise National Forest, Sawtooths, and final night camping outside Angel Lake in Nevada. We did highway, mud crossings, stream crossings, dunes and beaches, rough forest roads, etc. All with...
Not bad at all. Have an RTT on my XLT FX4 at about the same height. Loading up for a trip from San Diego to Oregon today...Will track my MPG and do a post here. I'll have about, oh, 400+ pounds in the bed with the RTT. About 300 pounds of that is hard seltzers (jk)...Looking forward to see what...
I will check these out as well as the Toyo Open Country. Frankly, it might come down to best price in my area...But lots of great options. Thanks for the suggestion!
Awesome...I am definitely going to upgrade to a true AT. What I accomplished the other day on Otay Truck Trail really exceeded my expectations. Ground clearance IS an issue, but I've found a good driver can overcome much...I plan to get out to the Santa Ana River area in San Berdoo in a few...
Thanks for watching—I'll have more videos in the next few weeks! So, we did this with my buddy's built 4Runner as well and he had to use 4Low. Couldn't do it in 2wd. I think a 2wd vehicle would have to use a LOT of momentum/throttle and still end up failing at the high portions of the grade...
Yeah—I ordered the full size spare and consider what I got a gimmick. I mean, what I wanted was a swappable tire/wheel...But I was super-naive...Ha. Again, I'm still ahead so I am not complaining about the vehicle. More confounded by the oddities of the ordering process.
Ah, gotcha. I just looked and it was a the 17 inch Unique aluminum wheel. I do NOT see the other tires listed on my order form...Odd. I think the confusion likely lies with me—thanks for the compliments on the truck. Looking forward to new tires and some other mods!
Yeah—it's weird. I DID pay for the upgrade though so...Wonder if I got screwed on that aspect...I am going to look back at my order. Things got wonky when I was rolled over to 2023, I think? That said, truck has so far been awesome.
Yes—this is correct, BUT I ordered a 2022 FX4 and that one included Geolander or Wildpeak with package. That spec—I believe—changed for 2023 which I was pushed to without dealer telling me. BUT, again, I got the 2022 price somehow and cruise control which I don't think was on board the 2022? To...
Thanks! Yes...I am already shopping for some Wildpeaks or Geolanders. Have to convince my wife though hahaha...I sure wish they wouldn't have changed that OEM spec...
