My original response was about claims that all modern ICE cars have AC compressor running all the time when engine is stopped. I added "non-Hybrid" to the post to clarify what I am referring to. I had 2 BEV, so I know about many things related to tech used in EV.
Hybrid is the way to go for me...
When engine is off on the non-Hybrid car the generator is not working, so in case you do not know - the car pulls about 30-40 Amps with ignition on, add to it AC and after a few minutes the battery will be drained and would not be enough power to re-start the engine. The Honda may be using combo...
I just checked with my dealership about Doc fee and they (he) said not to worry it is exactly the same as one posted on the forum. Being at the same state (PA) helped a lot to get clarity. The ensuring thing is that he is not a floor sells rep, but General Sales Manager. He handled my order...
Unless the car has so called Mild Hybrid with separate large battery. it is very unlikely - the AC will kill conventional 12V battery in a matter of minutes. Basically, if you have belt driven AC - it only works when engine running.
Most expensive ones would be first with common options like 360 and Luxury packages! Or better look at the First Edition - this is the option set that will be plenty of on start.
I know what you mean, but I can detect when they are telling a blue lies and honest. For example, they pause with some thoughts and also mention that they want to wait so they can test it first. Not like I care that they say, just noticed some interest even from Ford dealer employees.
Those questions would be very logical about 20 years ago, when Toyota made first Hybrid of this design. At this point, it is polished, fully mature and proved with billions of miles driven by Hybrids. Absolutely nothing to worry about in modern Hybrid at this point. The only question remains...
The traction battery in Hybrids is usually about 1 - 1.5 kWh. There is no need for bigger one as the energy regen only when braking and then releases it during following acceleration, so small battery is plenty. It does not have to push the car all the time.
Indeed they are in the pickle. They thought they would have this market niche for a while, but now everything is changed with Maverick release. Maverick value proposition will be hard to match and standard Hybrid is just an icing on the cake.
I just test drove Ford Escape Hybrid 2021. It has the same powertrain as Maverick Hybrid, so it is s good proxy to test. The powertrain is polished, everything smooth and quiet. Even all nannies are working smooth like line keep assist and smart cruise. I think I will like my Maverick Hybrid as...
I guess we will have to wait when build is scheduled/serialized for VIN to be assigned. Also nowhere on email or dealer order printout I could see the Order Number, there is a lot of codes though on the printout.
One of the reasons for not buying pickup before was bed exposed to elements. But Maverick Hybrid finally pushed me over the ordering line, so I ordered the same soft cover as in First Edition package. Where I live it is safe and it should be economical, sufficient and hopefully look good. I...
