  1. Rocking a Load - hauling 1,200 lbs of rocks

The heavy tarp did the job. I don't yet trust that the bed liner is enough to resist dents from a load like this but it did its job. Also, I have to chill a bit and accept that the truck is doing exactly what I bought it for. Very happy with the increased confidence this trip instilled.
  2. Rocking a Load - hauling 1,200 lbs of rocks

That would be a terrific solution!
  3. Rocking a Load - hauling 1,200 lbs of rocks

Great question! The yard guy used a Bobcat with a front-end loader and dropped the rocks into the bed. That's why I laid down a heavy tarp. Wanted to be sure the bed light and exposed metal was all protected. Worked perfectly!
  4. Rocking a Load - hauling 1,200 lbs of rocks

After 25 years driving a GMC Sierra and never thinking twice about hauling rocks, dirt, trees, etc., I had some reservations when the Commander in Chief asked me to bring in a load of river rock. I checked the load limit in the manual and headed down to the landscape materials supplier. With...
  5. Hybrid thoughts

Some of the local stations in SLO County are as high as $6.99 and if you start getting close to S.F. or L.A., forget about it. $8.00 per gallon. The once great state of California has been driven into a ditch.
  6. Hybrid thoughts

I bought a new Toyota Camry hybrid in 2008 and put 264K miles on it. Changed the oil every 5K miles and never had a single problem. Averaged 38.5mpg over 11 years. Traded it in for a new 2019 Rav4 hybrid and have been averaging the same. Excellent car. Bought a 1999 GMC Sierra new in '99...
  7. Cool features our Mavs should have

Well, since you asked: 1. Passenger side power seat and memory button for both front seats. 2. Button on the FOB to roll down all four windows while walking toward the truck on a very hot day. 3. Raise the top of the cab by 1" to help a tall driver with a fused back get in and out easier. 4...
  8. Can you change the color of the truck icon on the dash?

Here's my '25 Lariat and a shot of the dash with the truck icon which is the same color; carbon grey.
  9. Why is this article so dismissive of the Hybrid?

I drove a Toyota Camry Hybrid from 2008 until it hit 264K of trouble-free miles and then traded it in for a 2019 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid which now has 40K trouble-free miles. In November, I received my new, 2025 Mav Lariat Hybrid which now has 2,500 trouble-free miles on it and I'm loving me some...
  10. Maverick, meet Maverick

Thank you, sir. And thanks for your service.
  11. Maverick, meet Maverick

Too True, Goose! In my 58 years behind the wheel (or handlebars) of nearly as many cars, trucks, vans, and motorcycles, The Grey Ghost is my absolute favorite. And to me, that's saying something as I've owned some beauts; a '74 Trans Am w/455HD, a '91 560 SEC Benz, and two prior trucks, an '89...
  12. Adding Wallpaper to the Display?

Has anyone been able to figure out how to upload a photo that can be set as the default wallpaper for the 13.2" display? I found instructions via Google to go to Settings and the Display and then there was supposed to be and option for adding a photo for this purpose but on my '25 Lariat...
  13. Can you change the color of the truck icon on the dash?

Wow! Guess I got lucky. My truck is Carbon Grey and so are the icon trucks on the dash and the display... Wish I could help. Good luck finding a solution.
  14. Maverick, meet Maverick

Thank you, sir! I may ping you if the winds carry us your way!
  15. Maverick, meet Maverick

Thank you for your service. Did my time at Zaragoza in Spain and at Kirtland in Albuquerque. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would have stayed but I had charted a future outside the service so punched out and chased the dream. Caught it and life has been very good ever since. Cheers and Merry...
  16. Maverick, meet Maverick

That could well be my truck in the background! Kevin Shannon took very good care of me. I'd buy from him again in a heartbeat but I'm guessing it's going to be a very long heartbeat as this truck is running like it wants to stick around for a looooong while, which is fine by me. It's a Lariat...
  17. Maverick, meet Maverick

Four years active with the Air Force in the early 1970s and then nine years with the Navy Executive Learning Office following 9/11 and I never got tired of seeing big grey aircraft that sliced through the air or huge ships that cut through blue water. So, when it came time for a new truck...
  18. Tie down straps

Thanks to all for some great suggestions. Greatly appreciated!
  19. Tie down straps

Would be interested to hear any recommendations for bed tie-down straps. Has anyone mounted ratcheting straps on the bed walls? If so, what brand and any trouble with installation or weather wear? Photos? Many thanks.
