I have a few questions (and I'll probably keep asking as they occur to me, until I order).
Is the seat comfort the same on all three levels, just different covering? I was able to sit in an XLT and a Lariat but at a distance of two months so it was hard to compare.
Do you lose any cargo space...
I don't know if anyone mentioned it yet (I didn't read the whole thread), but seeing how many immediately lift their truck and add all terrain tires, why wouldn't the factory have a fine tuned option for this? I'm guessing half the owners would choose it. Just don't make it a $70,000 option...
We bought a Prius 11 years ago. Super reliable (knockon wood) and great mpg. One drawback- the seats make my back hurt after 1/2 hour or so. On long road trips I get out on gas or food stops literally grunting and groaning.
How are them Maverick thrones?
3 in almost 20 years? I don't think so.
Before that I had a F150, a f250 and a Ranger. So I'm an ex- Ford truck guy.
I don't expect the Maverick to have that kind of resale value.
One thing I will mention about my above mentioned Vanagon. It's my third. The first two I sold, both of them, for about twice what I paid. I think this one will be no different.
I would get the XL if it had cruise control. Debating whether it's worth an extra $2000?
The only thing on the Lariat that I would really want that the XLT doesn't have is the upgraded sound system.
Right now I have a 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia. I love the car. It's one of the only cars that can seat four, sleep four, swallow up a quiver of surfboards or building supplies, and is easy to park. The 85's also have great ground clearance (11") to venture down service roads.

When not in use, I prefer to keep my sunglasses on top of my head. I do lose them a lot that way though.
"Where the hell did I put my sunglasses???"
"Dad, they're on top of your head."
In the same way, I tend to lose a lot of pencils behind my ear.
We were in Joshua a few years ago. Went down Old Geology Road in a 2WD vehicle with decdent clearance. At a certan point we started going down hill over sand covered rock and, envisioning spinning wheels on the way back up, discretion go the best of me and I turned around. DO you think that...
Nice. Like someone said above, those could easily be Official Ford promo pics.
I was thinking if was further north. like Lost Coast, Mattole Road or thereabouts.
Curious to your MPG both highway and in the dirt, when you're loaded with gear and the RTT? Do you take the RTT and other gear off...
If you do this yourself I (and I'm guessing others) would love to see the "how to" pics. I've done some work on suspensions but have to admit I hate using spring compressors. Curious if those are necessary.
I'm curious how much gear you all bring when camping and how you load the truck?
We are a family of three- myself, wife and teen daughter (yes she still happily comes along) and we bring a lot of stuff. Our trips last 5-10 days. When I looked at the bed of the Maverick (I haven't been able to...
