  1. How Many New Cars Do People Actually Buy?

I used to buy used, fix them up and flip them after a few years before anything expensive happened. But it costs more now to do that, the cars are less repairable, I’m older and now make more money so the last ten years and for the foreseeable future I drive it until it’s paid for then flip it...
  2. Maverick Street Truck Build w/ Custom Paint, Graphics & Wheels

Like any custom the outcome is polarizing. To the builder, kudos as overall its a great effort to capture the look of an era. As I lived through that era a rerun isn’t my cup of tea but good job. For me, past the bling graphics and yesteryear billet wheels it has some really nice styling. The...
  3. Ford Emails in Canada

Somewhat but I expected it. No news is good news? I ordered a loaded truck so I’m willing to bet they want the rest of my money and potential trade in more than I need a new truck. Funny part is the longer they take the less likely they will get my trade in. With that in mind I’m patient.
  4. Ford Emails in Canada

I dropped my deposit in September if I recall correctly, talked the day after with the business agent to submit financing details. Radio silence since then, nothing, nada, no calls, emails or texts from the dealer or Ford. But what can they really communicate? I figured when I put my deposit on...
  5. Painted grill bar, bumpers, fender vents, hood scoop - matched to body color on Maverick (Cyber Orange)

Thanks for posting, I like most of what you did and look forward to where it might lead. Window vents put me off in any colour or tint, other than that two thumbs up. So what’s next, Chrome wheels? Lowering it? Contrasting stripes?
  6. Alignment??

What model do you have? Some have electronic aids, does yours? Are on?
  7. Winch in front bumper?

While I’m sure someone will eventually make a mount my take is if you want a winch you already bought the FX4 package so you have tow hooks. It’s not hard to use a turfer winch or pulls-all to get out if you have a pull point on the truck…like a hook or something.
  8. Has anyone lifted the the rubber strips on the cab roof?

If someone doesn’t market a solution Iā€˜m thinking I will scour the wrecking yard for a vehicle with rails I can adapt. Considering they would distribute the load I think it would be a good solution. Unfortunately it would require drilling (hidden, use touch up paint) and rubber nut inserts but...
  9. Has anyone lifted the the rubber strips on the cab roof?

Yes it would, the stresses on the box could be substantial as well. The long overhang over the cab doesn’t have an offsetting long box to distribute the weight like a FS truck. If you are just packing a light load then no matter, load it up though and it might not be good. I’m looking forward to...
  10. Is it worth investing in the extended warranty from Ford for 2.0 Eco AWD XL with tow package?

My 2 cents on extended warranties. 1) 9 times out of 10 you won’t need it (ie; repairs more than cost of plan) 2) If your the 1 it sucks if you don’t have it… Consider; -Are you going to leave it completely stock or modify it? If you are going to screw with it save your money. -Who is ever...
  11. L button on FX4

So is it just stuck in the normal first gear or is it using a new combination of planetaries to come up with a lower ratio? I suspect my Renegade does something like this when I select 4low as I doubt it has anything all that special built into it other than programming.
  12. New Motortrend Review: 2022 Maverick Pros and Cons Review: A Small Truck With a Big Impact [w/ Acceleration Numbers]

Well I live in the sticks, nothing but 2 lane with scattered passing lanes, the closest ā€œfreewayā€ is at least a thousand miles away and I can assure you the speeds are not lower, if anything I under estimated what is normally used to safely pass. curvy mountainous roads provide few opportunities...
  13. New Motortrend Review: 2022 Maverick Pros and Cons Review: A Small Truck With a Big Impact [w/ Acceleration Numbers]

    45-65 passing? I’d call that merging… Shouldn’t passing be 60-80?
  14. Maverick Backup Camera Quality

Sounds like this is a quality control issue more than Ford intentionally installing a poor camera. I have not received my truck yet but the truck I drove was excellent so this makes me think some cameras are NFG, not all the cameras are NFG. Not sure how open Ford would be for a warranty claim...
  15. Ford Door Molding - Good for Protecting Doors ?

Would it help, sure. Will it eliminate the possibility, no. It depends on what’s hitting it, how hard and at what height.
  16. Fog lights for Maverick ?

I’m forced to have a front license plate, fog light mounts off of those are commonlace and will work for me without giving up the tow hooks of restricting the inter cooler.
  17. Thule XSporter Mid Pro Bed Rack is a great fit on 2022 Maverick!

Sounds very intriguing, please update us with a few pictures when it’s installed.
  18. Thule XSporter Mid Pro Bed Rack is a great fit on 2022 Maverick!

I don’t mind the expense and I like the look, But the roll style take so much box room, this one is 10ā€ā€¦ I guess a tri-fold has problems with the canted rack though.
  19. Thule XSporter Mid Pro Bed Rack is a great fit on 2022 Maverick!

Both racks look good, but I’m not sure either would meet my needs. I don’t think anyone makes anything that does yet though… Is it too lofty to expect a rack that will seamlessly install with a tri-fold tonneau cover (staying essentially water tight), while providing enough height so I can use...
  20. My reliability gamble - returning to Ford

26% domestic IIFC. As to the OP’s reliability question I’ve never had all that great luck with Ford, my last one was a ā€˜05 F250 SD 4x4 with the 3 valve 5.4…. loved the truck but it had an undeniable attraction to gas stations and repair shops…. So Ford better have stepped it up because this is...
