No, and I don't think they can because the hybrids are only made in Korea, and the Santa Cruz is a US only model, so no hybrid from the Tucson can be installed. They did somehow manage to increase the base engine EPA rating by 4mpg though on the highway. Not sure how.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the rolling tonneau because of how much space the box uses, but lower trims don't come with it. They make a soft rollup that is compact, I'd probably do that. Or a waterproof bed bag stored in the shallow bed trunk.
Regarding price, while the new Mav has a lot of...
The CVT in the Maverick Hybrid is a planetary design, very robust and probably the most reliable design out there. Its very similar to what you see in a hybrid Prius.
DCTs are effectively manual transmissions with the clutch controlled by a computer. Unlike your foot, you might engage in...
Yes! And the '25 Tucson that its based on has a better design, it uses the switchback white lights in the grill to turn amber. Not sure why the Santa Cruz didn't get that as well.
For those curious, this shows how it looks like an arrow for the turn signals in the front headlight assembly...
At least I think we can all agree that oceans of dust and fingerprint collecting gloss black and lack of physical controls is a trend that couldn't die fast enough, especially on a pickup. :)
You might only be remembering a Limited top trim, the SEL used to look like this pre-refresh (without Activity Package), analog gauges with a big hood over it, smaller 8" infotainment on a gloss black surface and limited very small physical controls:
vs the new SEL (without activity package...
So what are the thoughts on Round 2 with Maverick's closest competitor, the Santa Cruz, now that both are seeing a significant refresh?
For those that haven't seen the Santa Cruz changes, here's a Limited:
I think they did well on the interior update, but not sure I like the new grill or...
How is it that every time I come to post a video, someone beat me to it by hours! :D
Edit: So after watching the whole video, while I always like his reviews I feel he was overly critical this time. I think he also needs a wakeup call as EVERYTHING has gotten more expensive, including the...

" The price of the 2025 GMC Terrain is expected to start around $32,000."
Its basically just the same thing as say a Chevy Trax vs a Buick Envista, same platform but slightly differentiated styling and interiors, with the Buick essentially starting at...
IMO its OK to have low power if economy is great and visa versa.
Also, the '25 Equinox gets worse economy than the '24, which is surprising because its now a CVT and in FWD you'd expect it would be efficient, but its rated 26 city/28highway EPA.
Definitely need to get the new Equinox/Terrain...
So much this!

Growing up, I used to have this stereotype that GM had the worst interior but the best powertrains.
Now it seems like Toyota has the worst interiors and best powertrains, lol! Rav4 base engine is over 200hp and they offer a 220hp hybrid and a 300hp "Prime" version, but a sad interior.
Its unbelievable to me that this is an affordable base level interior, and as much "wow" factor as that gives, the one and only powertrain has to be the most pathetic offering ever being not only the least powerful but also the least efficient in class, oof!
Looks like GM might have spent too...
I said the same about 360 cameras, but once you have it, its hard to give it up as they are nice features. I don't know why they aren't more common though, they aren't expensive to implement, but now it seems they use it as a way to entice people into buying the really expensive top trims...
Its even WORSE than we thought...
Claims are just rubber stamping anything to do with a engine fire on Corolla GRs with the exact same language:
As of now, various publications have reached out to Toyota, and can not get anyone to comment.
I think people are more stressed not that there are...

Cliffs Notes: This is the 2nd Toyota Corolla GR that has had an engine failure recently, with warranty denied, because the owner drove 85mph.
The owner captured it all on dashcam which shows...
New Ford small affordable BEV revealed without camo:
Kidding aside, I don't see a BEV pickup being that cheap, but they could use something budget in the lineup to serve the purpose of little Ford Fiestas and the like of years past.
I have a feeling a lot of those DPFs are going to end up being resonators in no time. Oopsie! I was trying to clean the DPF with a drill and crowbar and it just fell out the other end somehow???
This is why I don't take naps in my running vehicle with the garage door closed.
My problem with JD Powers is 1) It seems they can be bought and 2) They consider transmission failure and a headunit quirk as more or less the same "problem" count.
Santa Cruz has recently suffered from both a DCT recall for total transmission failures and an airbag recall. That said, I...
