  1. June Maverick Production — 10,000+ Units

There is a subtle difference between production planning (done well in advance based on marketing projections) and actual material constraints. In the case of the hybrid, Fords original production planning forecasts were 40% hybrid, and actual production is about 40%, so there are no hybrid...
  2. Can't Believe What My Dealer Told Me Today ... My Wait Could be 4-6 Months

This^. It’s very clear Ford is building what it can to meet customer orders, not stock. The current intention is to build all the MY22 orders. The only reason any would not be built is because of parts shortages, which would only be known for sure closer to the end of the production year. If a...
  3. Ford will sell & deliver Mavericks without chips controlling non-safety critical features

No, the IPMA is an image processing module with a front facing camera… needed for lane keeping and other similar functions where it has to analyse an image. The backup camera is just a simple video camera.
  4. Ford will sell & deliver Mavericks without chips controlling non-safety critical features

Sadly that feature is embedded in the PCM software so it can’t be removed. Worse, it seems it can’t be turned off with configuration changes either (so far). Pretty sure auto start-stop will win the ā€œmost annoying feature everā€œ award.
  5. Ford will sell & deliver Mavericks without chips controlling non-safety critical features

Might be worth looking at the module list to see what actually could be left out. This is the known module list from another post where some of the guys have been diligently scanning built Mavericks using Forscan. Many of these modules are essential for driving the vehicle (eg PCM) or...
  6. Ford will sell & deliver Mavericks without chips controlling non-safety critical features

Yep, there’s always an opportunity for damage when doing rework, even if the module is easily accessible.
  7. Ford will sell & deliver Mavericks without chips controlling non-safety critical features

This is not the first time this has been considered. See the Detroit Free Press article from July 2021 below which describes Ford considering the same idea. But it seems they didn’t follow through in any significant way last time, so unclear if they are now going to do it, or just pondering the...
  8. [Dealer Memo] Not all 2022 Mavericks will be built. Update on Maverick Retail Order Scheduling, Customer Options and Order Amendment

The allocation system seems like a mystery, but it does have a purpose, especially for stock orders, which was previously the main way people bought cars. Imagine Ford introduces something popular like an Econoline Raptor (I’m making this up) and everyone wants it. A small dealer in rural...
  9. Hybrid Transmission Reliability Question

I think you must be referring to some 2013-2015 models where Ford under sized one of the motor shaft bearings as a cost reduction, which caused some premature bearing failures. The fix is to replace that bearing, which unfortunately requires disassembly, hence the high cost. Apparently it was...
  10. Town East Ford Maverick Available

Direct ordering is clearly the way to go. Fordā€˜s problem is having a 19th century order & delivery system in a 21st century market place.
  11. Chip Shortage from A Difference POV

Makes sense… they couldn’t be driven off the line without at least the main PCM and BCEM modules. The dash (if it has one) probably lights up like a Christmas tree with error codes for all the other missing modules!
  12. Hybrid Transmission Reliability Question

There are no speed presets in the power split single planet design. The engine rpm is simply a reflection of the kw power needed for any particular driving situation. That is why it has the power % gauge instead of a tachometer. There is no belt and drum setup like the Sentra CVT you...
  13. Town East Ford Maverick Available

Absolute scumbags… Everyone here should send a copy of this ad to Ford (Mark Levine or even Customer service) and ask if this is what Jim Farley was talking about. We have to call out these kind of dealers if there is ever going to be change.
  14. Hybrid Transmission Reliability Question

You are certainly free to change the oil sooner than recommended, no harm there. But probably less wasteful to use the same changing ratio as other fluids. For example, if the recommended engine oil interval is 10k and you change it at 5k, then if the transmission recommended interval is 150k...
  15. Hybrid Transmission Reliability Question

Yes, although the speed of the second motor/generator (could be operating in either mode) does the most to keep the engine at the desired rpm for the power needed at a given road speed.
  16. Hybrid Transmission Reliability Question

Your differential analogy is pretty good expalantion! The variable ratios are effected by the two motors working together with the engine. It can be hard to grasp, but think of it as balancing the speed of three things, an engine and two motors (one of which is connected to the wheels). One...
  17. šŸ“¬ 02/17 Scheduling Email Received Group [EMAILS NOW ARRIVING!]

NEVER let scumbag dealers win… call them out whenever you can. The fact they got called by their head office shows calling them out on social media does make a difference. In this case, Jim Farley himself has condemned their practices, so MTC members should feel no guilt whatsoever for calling...
  18. Jim Farley: We know who are the 10% of dealers charging ADM markup and their future allocations will be impacted

Makes me wonder if this is the new dealer workaround to any potential pushback from Ford over ADMs… Transfer ownership to dealer, use it internally or for demos for a month, then sell it as ā€œusedā€ with a massive ADM. Nothing Ford can say about used car prices. Regardless, Bob Davidson Ford...
  19. Jim Farley: We know who are the 10% of dealers charging ADM markup and their future allocations will be impacted

Hearing this, I would never order from Chapman even with their online discount. Chapman is showing their true colors, just another scumbag dealer charging ADMs.
  20. Gary Yeoman Ford...

Gary Yeoman Ford must be pushing for first place on the MTC verified scumbag dealer list.
