  1. Ford offers employee pricing to all US customers - April 3 through June 2 - "From America to America"

    1) We didn't have slave labor in US factories during WW2, you were sold a line of nonsense. He probably walked up hill to school in the snow, both ways. 2) Its 2025, automation and robotics are the future: 3) The United States government was founded on tariffs, it was the only form of tax...
  2. 2024 XL Total Loss At 6,000 Miles

On the plus side, we're seeing automatic safety tech become more and more common that can both make an alert to wake up the dummy behind the wheel, and if no action apply emergency braking force itself. Add in adaptive cruise control with stop/go and lane centering, and cars are starting to...
  3. Ford offers employee pricing to all US customers - April 3 through June 2 - "From America to America"

Yes, just increase domestic manufacturing capacity is the answer, and one of the intended goals of the tariffs. During WW2 the US manufacturing capacity in only four years just over doubled in size, and by 1944 the US produced more than half the world's industrial output. China's absolute...
  4. Ford offers employee pricing to all US customers - April 3 through June 2 - "From America to America"

Can you explain why "everyone is forced to increase prices" when: 1) Not every vehicle is affected. There are a huge amount of vehicles assembled here already: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_automobiles_manufactured_in_the_United_States 2) Not all parts are affected by the 25% tariff...
  5. Ford offers employee pricing to all US customers - April 3 through June 2 - "From America to America"

You're mistaken, manufacturers found alternative parts suppliers during COVID due to shortages. I confirmed with my brother that is in that role now, they can and will find other suppliers. Many of the parts like tires, belts, hoses, wiper blades and the like are commodity parts. Tesla was...
  6. Ford offers employee pricing to all US customers - April 3 through June 2 - "From America to America"

I don't blame Ford, they should always do whatever is most profitable. With 25% markup, its likely that domestic parts suppliers would now have a competitive advantage. And you'd be surprised how many parts are just common commodities and not even vehicle or even brand specific. I...
  7. Ford offers employee pricing to all US customers - April 3 through June 2 - "From America to America"

https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/03/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-adjusts-imports-of-automobiles-and-automobile-parts-into-the-united-states/ USMCA = Mexico and Canada agreement: In addition, the Maverick is unlikely to see the full brunt of the 25% tariff, based on the...
  8. Ford offers employee pricing to all US customers - April 3 through June 2 - "From America to America"

From Ford or from them as dealer markup? Ford has claimed that there will be no MSRP increase in response to tariffs, and in fact they are probably happy about the tariffs since it should give them a competitive advantage. Ford makes just over 80% of their vehicles in the US, and luckily...
  9. Maverick vs Santa Cruz.

They made it a bit too shallow though, and the Ridgeline trick of having a dual-action tailgate allows you to put your body closer to that storage bin for more convenient access. Its better than not having it, but I don't think you'd use it as much as on the Honda and it would end up storing...
  10. Maverick vs Rampage....

LOL, I love how they say one of the editions is 10mm lower... c'mon that's certainly just because they put a slightly different wheel/tire package on it, because that's nothing. Not sure why peeps are hating, the power level is not bad at near 300ftlbs, 0-60 in under 7 seconds, traditional...
  11. 2022 FWD Maverick v. wife wants an RV

IMO RVs made more sense back in the day, when there were less laws about where you can put your RV and less hotels/motels that you could use as an alternative and the equipment was built to last. And your hotel/motel will just work to lay down and take a shower, the RVs I always hear horror...
  12. Lowest total cost to own

Cost of ownership is very important, but people tend to overestimate gas, and underestimate resale value and in the last few years INSURANCE! You can pick up Dodge Chargers cheap, but the cost of ownership is through the roof on them. Several Kia/Hyundais too thanks to the Kia boys. Mav...
  13. 2025 below invoice in NC?

If you aren't in a super rush, it seems like the market is finally normalizing and you can probably get a deal after the very first batch are out the door. Mav isn't new but refresh is, so probably going to be a mad rush at first for the upgrades especially AWD hybrids. Don't think there's...
  14. Round Two: 2025 Santa Cruz Refresh vs.. 2025 Maverick Refresh 🥊

That was the whole purpose of distracting us with entertainment. Parents did not appreciate the type of "interaction" us siblings had with one another or them. "MOOOOMMMM! He's looking at me again! Make him stop!" "DAD, how much longer? I'm hungry. Why are the street signs green? ... But...
  15. Round Two: 2025 Santa Cruz Refresh vs.. 2025 Maverick Refresh 🥊

Here's luxury: Jealous of kids these days, I remember playing tetris on my 2.5" gameboy screen blindly half the time in the dark spots between street lights on the highway, lol! Now kids are playing street fighter 6 from their parent's bimmer's heated seats.
  16. Round Two: 2025 Santa Cruz Refresh vs.. 2025 Maverick Refresh 🥊

Peak car is when they get rid of the window weak points, make the chassis a solid cage, just give us a curved 85" 16K display with augmented reality, and when you crash into a water fountain you will be encased in a capsule of securefoam.
  17. Round Two: 2025 Santa Cruz Refresh vs.. 2025 Maverick Refresh 🥊

Yeah, luckily the base engine is MPI so in theory no carbon fouling issues, it still gets the big oil cooler in spite of being much lower power compared to the turbo version, and it comes with a traditional 8-speed slushbox, so is probably the better option for offroad (assuming they have...
  18. Round Two: 2025 Santa Cruz Refresh vs.. 2025 Maverick Refresh 🥊

You're right, although I can't find data I thought the 8-speed traditional automatic wasn't having the issues the DCT was. This is from Consumer Reports, they list the Maverick as "above average" and Santa Cruz as "below average" reliability: On the plus side, the Santa Cruz has a 10 year...
  19. Space White 2025 Maverick at the Miami International Auto Show!

This lighting isn't really showing that it has a hint of blue in it, basically a very light grayish blue, which is good it should jive with the blue interior. They just gave it a dumb name, in space you think of black. Should have called it "Raincloud White" or something. Controversy of the...
  20. Round Two: 2025 Santa Cruz Refresh vs.. 2025 Maverick Refresh 🥊

Automatic braking I assume makes them less important. Cheaper to have sensors that will slam on the brakes when your teenager wants to back your car out of the driveway and is about to slam into the mailbox than to try to make a bumper that can withstand it.
