  1. Maverick Pricing Estimate based on other Fords

Which kind of center differential do you think the Maverick will get?
  2. HP and LB-FT Graphs - 1.5L vs 2.0L

Indeed. My old Suzuki sidekick has a really anemic engine that tops out at 96 horsepower factory, but it has a 5.125 rear end!
  3. HP and LB-FT Graphs - 1.5L vs 2.0L

Cool beans. The second graph does a fantastic job showing the impact of gear ratios on torque. It is an education, many thanks.
  4. Maverick Pricing Estimate based on other Fords

Based on Ford escape stats, the 1.5 l weighs 87 lb less than the 2 l. Although the 2 l has a lot more horsepower and torque, 87 lb is a significant amount of weight when it comes to performance. 1.5l EPA 26/31, 2.0l EPA 23/31 I drive a 2016 Ford Fiesta ST with a 1.6 l ecoboost engine. The...
  5. HP and LB-FT Graphs - 1.5L vs 2.0L

FirstOnRaceDay, could you give us more information about the wheel horsepower and torque? Is it calculated based on going flat out in regular drive, for example?
  6. HP and LB-FT Graphs - 1.5L vs 2.0L

    Awesome graphs dude, many thanks!
  7. Memorial Day

To all vets, many thanks for your service.
  8. Has Ford's Approach To Rolling Out The Maverick Dimmed Your Interest?

Small utility trailers are evil to back up. They are too short and turn way too quick! I've got a number of them, including a really small 3x4 that I put 1x2 goal posts on the back of so that I can see it when I'm backing up.
  9. Has Ford's Approach To Rolling Out The Maverick Dimmed Your Interest?

Consider getting a hitch and a small utility trailer. Cheap and effective!
  10. Frist to buy, frist to wreck.

Older generations in this segment were really limited by their live axles, as I recall many of them had about six and a half inches of clearance. Actually, unless you are bouldering that is plenty for most uses. The independent suspension of things like the new Maverick is a big advantage. My...
  11. What will $25K USD buy?

Our 1992 Suzuki sidekick has 96 horsepower rated, you can take it on the interstate but it won't be a lot of fun! It has a 5.125 rear end, it's doing 4,000 RPMs at 70 and needs to! Still a very useful vehicle.
  12. Why do you want a Maverick?

Agreed. There are lots and lots of dirty, smelly, squishy things that you just don't want inside of even an old car, not to mention volatile things such as gasoline.
  13. Why do you want a Maverick?

Seems to me a carefully engineered steel bed would more likely have a higher payload and the Santa Cruz is 660 lbs.
  14. Current Daily Drivers

2016 Ford Fiesta ST. Daily driver and enormously entertaining hot hatch. 2018 Subaru Impreza, wife's daily driver. 1992 Suzuki Sidekick 5dr 4x4 bought new, has about 230,000 miles on it now. Now the farm vehicle. Runs well with rebuilt engine and numerous new parts. 1968 Triumph Spitfire MK...

How do you like that tw200?
  16. AWD Nice but Not Necessary in Winter

Good points. Most crossovers are front wheel drive. A surprising number of trucks that look like they're four wheel drive are actually two wheel drive.
  17. Maverick vs Hyundai Santa Cruz

Motor trend has done a good job of describing the features of the Santa Cruz truck bed: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2022-hyundai-santa-cruz-first-look-review-2/ The most useful aspect of it for me is a tailgate that lifts partially to support 4x8 sheet goods, along with ridges at the wheel...
  18. Maverick vs Hyundai Santa Cruz

Lots of features, terrific warranty, and the profile manages to avoid the bulbous, generic suv shape with a wedge shape that makes it look long and sleek, reminiscent of the old triumph tr7. Very fresh! This thing could really take off. If it did, that would be very, very good for the compact...
  19. Maverick vs Hyundai Santa Cruz

It looked to me like it pops right out, clearing the space.
