For everyone who thinks the switch to EVs is being forced on them by the government, you are right. But you are wrong about what government it is. US car makers have to be competitive on a global scale. Where does GM sell the most Buicks? It ain't the USA, it's China. Horrible pollution...
On the hybrid thing. The Toyota Sienna minivan, which is AWD, gets 35 miles to the gallon. Done right, a compact pickup with a hybrid power train could get amazing milage and have great power even at higher elevation because the electric assist is not effected by air density. That said, my...
The reveal of the Lightening really just makes me more hopeful that there will be some kind of an electrified version of the Maverick. I really think that a plug in hybrid would make sense. Electric around town, then if you have to go further and charging is not a great option on the trip...
So, a magic reveal by the end of June. Then nice glossy brochures available on the internet for Christmas. With trucks available ... Summer 2022ish? That would match the time lines they put out there for the Lightening.
Do they still even bother with those brochures we used to drool over...
Chevy just dropped the price on the Bolt and with incentives you can now buy an all electric car with 250 miles of range for about $28,000. Given what Ford did with the price on the base F150 Lightning, I'd say you are right on with $30,000 for some kind of electrified Maverick.
On the "Competition is good for the consumer" front, I just read an article that suggested the Honda Ridgeline may get a hybrid or plug in hybrid version. Given what Ford just did with the reveal of the F150 Lightening and the amazing price of the base version, I'm going to be surprised if we...

So, I watched the reveal of the Lightening electric pickup. The frunk is huge and has power outlets. How many people have looked under the hood of a full sized pick-up and thought about all the room up...
Since this is a uni-body design, it would be a bit more difficult to have more than one cab size. The whole vehicle would be shorter if you made the cab shorter. Possible, but unlikely.
So, I'm thinking if they are going to have any kind of electrified version available from the get go, it would make sense to reveal that along side a big announcement about an electric vehicle people have been waiting on. Perhaps a stage full of hybrid and plug in hybrid vehicles in the...
Yeah, but that article says it is not expected in the US or Canadian market. If I was GM, I'd be looking carefully at how the Santa Cruz does and how the Maverick does. If they sell well, GM can always start bringing that little trucklette up to the US and Canada. If it can meet US safety specs.
Obviously you all are missing something. That photo is of a white Maverick with some camo. What is white? Ghosts. How do you get a ghost? you kill something. Ford killed the Maverick and there are now ghost trucks pulling UHaul trailers down the Blueridge Parkway.
Seriously though, I'd...
I'm liking that size. Looks like basically on par with the Bronco Sport, Which I thought was a good size when I stood next to a model on display. Side note, that Bronco sport actually looks really good in white. I'm normally not a fan of white o a vehicle, but that looks nice. Makes me...
Why cover up the bed at this point? We've seen plenty of spy shots where the bed, back windows and roof are exposed. I can't imagein they can change those features much at this point. But maybe there is some cool bed / tailgate magic they don't want us to know about. Maybe that gull-wing...
Well, i think we know where the chips are going to go. I'm not saying this will delay the Maverick. Except that this will delay the Maverick.

Doc, I love the color. I hope they put that on the Maverick when it comes out. Which I'm guessing they will since it is available on pretty much everything Ford builds right now. That color even makes an EcoSport look good.
Ford has parking lots full of F-150s that just need chips. They have a highly profitable model (the Bronco) that has been revealed and production keeps getting delayed. They have multiple lower volume vehicles (Escape and Cosair plug in hybrids) that have been revealed where production has...
