Haha. One could legitimately argue that those driving big half and 3/4-ton pickups costing 3x as much and 3x as much fuel with 2x the insurance costs are the dumb ones, especially for the 95% of them hauling sailboat fuel or parking in real parking lots.
Both the EcoBoost and the Hybrid have no use for a locking diff, as the TCS system locks the brakes on the spinning wheel and functions as a locking diff better than a mechanical one. Locking diffs are extra unsprung weight that is of no use today.
If you brake very gradually, then you should be aware that in order to increase vehicle stability while decelerating, virtually all manufacturers apply the rears before the fronts. Its been that way forever, even on drum brakes. The "fix" is to brake more aggressively, allowing the fronts to...
Factory Bushwackers. They are about 2.5" wider, so I added 25mm axle extensions on the rears to follow out the resulting space, while the fronts look OK.
If you live in the north, its almost impossible to operate a roll-up tonneau with any ice in the edges where it will collect, even after brushing off the snow. Its a boutique item, not a real functional solution.
M8 in most holes, but M6 in 2 at the top front. Some owners have had to clean the threads after a poor spray-in liner job. If you're putting them in the front of the floor, watch the depth where the fuel tank sits.
Most get better than the stated mileage, some getting a lot more. If you're not getting at least the stated mileage, then it's probably your aggressive driving and not the truck.
True, but remember that a huge amount of that time with the engine on is done at well below optimum temperatures conditions, and it does 100x the number of starts compared to a gas-only drivetrain. It only partially helps that it is using 0W20 oil to get lubrication there faster. All Hybrids...
When I had Rangers, I changed oil every 2500mi. One made it to 744k, so changing it excessively certainly seems to work. Oils have become much better lubricants since then, so I only change the oil in my Maverick every 10k now when I don't like its brown color that I see. It's a Hybrid that...
Those engines had spun bearings due to oil starvation due to machining detritus in the galleries, the same way that GM, Hyundai and Toyota engines have been failing. Then the rods exit the block and you have a fire.
Yes it's CAA Insurance. It was almost half the rate that my previous insurer asked. It's pretty hard to qualify for a good rate, as you need no claims for 20 years and a clean driving record.
Haha. 2.5" lift and you haven't eaten the C/V joints yet. Give it a couple of thousand more miles and you'll be putting it back down to stock height...
Unlike the GM system, the Ford OLM takes engine loads and temperatures into account when figuring out remaining life. You don't need to track it yourself unless you're using substandard oil.
The block heater installs tight under the exhaust manifold, so it has to come off, the cat converter off with its wiring, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Its a nasty 7hr job that makes it impractical to do after purchase. Just buy a truck with the option installed before they put the...
