No more than the turbo you'll be replacing before you even get the truck paid off. :) And with the money alone saved on gas, you'll have half the cost covered. In case you missed the memo, premium unleaded is now over $4 dollars a gallon and you will have to run that in the 2.0 engine...
You may be smarter than you realize. :)
The turbo is one thing, which will require full synthetic oil and top tier gas, but an even riskier proposition is it's 'direct fuel injection'
Understanding of course without it you don't tow 4000 lbs. while still being able to get decent gas mileage...
Oh yeah, butt ugly with that shape but done for aerodynamics to get the gas mileage. And their engine is a dog at that. Like the Eco Sport way underpowered for the weight ratio. But none does the magic seats and now that the Fit is history it's only the HR-V.
But this Maverick has real...
The entire Maverick has potential. I'm liking inside under the rear seat. My blaster folds in half down to just over 21 inches. In my Honda Fit I've got it wrapped up and chained to the rear seat latch, works out good for me.
The sky's the limit with this Maverick.
Define your idea of off-roading. Dirt roads you don't even need AWD as even the front wheel drive version is a beast with over 8 inches of ground clearance.
Put a set of all terrains on it if you get nervous.
You want real off-roading you buy the King,,, a Jeep Wrangler. (two door please)
I was actually hoping the Maverick would be the size of the VW Rabbit runabout I drove back in the early 1980's. That was a real true runabout and man did that thing run, like a rabbit. :)
Give it time, if the Maverick takes off I'm sure Ford will turn into a bemouth. The Maverick as it is...
Bring your own vaseline and condoms they are going to hose you young cats. Doubtful anyone is getting a Maverick for suggested retail. Don't ever think a dealership has your best interest. They have in fact over the years done more damage to a brands reputation.
@pointillistic,
It won't be EV in 20 years unless the government mandates it. EV only truly works if you own your own home, and despite what you may have heard less than 40% in America own a home. The rest of us are in apartments. The extension cord to the street might be a little long...
If it was strictly electric leasing would be the safer option then buying I would think. But as a hybrid for me anyway I'll be buying. The only thing leasing really does for you is get you into a vehicle you could not afford otherwise, from that point on unless you can write it off on your...
I present my 2019 Honda Fit of which I average close to 50 on the hwy. and 35 + in the city. (full disclosure here I burn only premium to get range) The CVT isn't that great but it enables that kind of mileage. It's only rated for 40 and 33. The EPA always low balls it to play it safe...
Yeah, the older years were not good. The new model that came out last year is much better because of the CVT they are using, and it's even a more powerful engine.
Also remember this it's a box on wheels, the poor gas mileage is because it's not aerodynamic.
But check this out, the new model...
Nothing ! I'm on a shoestring budget, I'm happy when I get toilet paper on sale. :)
I really like what I have now, but this Maverick has potential written all over it and in my humble opinion it's the best new vehicle launched by Ford in decades and any new vehicle by any of them.
Forget...
I hear ya, but the Maverick only works because of that starting price point. The days of getting 'real value' like my Honda Fit are gone. Your Sirus Radio and stand alone Cruise control are not even on my radar.
Your argument is spending $28k, for a Maverick, surely you jest. You are...
It's made in Mexico, so was my 1989 Ford Ranger back in the day. You will have problems, but you would anyway if made in the States. Even my Honda Fit made in Mexico had problems. Don't let the Japanese name fool you, Toyota or Honda today is no better than American in the 60's, 70's or...
EPA always low balls to play it safe from the years the manufactures were lying through their teeth. They got my Honda Fit with plain gas at 40 on the hwy. I average close to 50, of course I'm running premium gas. I only do to get extended range. City I average 35 +, the EPA says 33...
Relax Toby, don't get nervous until you buy Korean or Euro. I once own a Smart car, to bad the Germans made it. It was $25 dollars just to shake the mechanics hand. :)
When you get to the Koreans and start digging into it you discover there really is no value.
That KIA Soul, just to get an...
Never was to begin with, I try to buy what suits my needs. Albeit the very first new vehicle with 4 wheels I ever owned was in fact a Ford. But it was more by accident then thought.
The biggest detriment to manufactures our their dealerships, of which they have very little control over...
I listen to a Ford rep the other day who was on the design team. This is what he said, which surprised me, he said our focus customer are those with limited means. Totally blew me away.
The key word in all of this is 'utility'. Where else can you get a vehicle with this capability that...
