You can also use the Tow/Haul or Sport drive modes for a few miles coming up to a car wash to keep the ICE running more and charging the HV battery as much as possible.
I do wonder if it is a SoC% or a voltage threshold.
From experience I've found that my 07 Escape Hybrid draws the line at 300 volts, at which point it will temporarily disable the HV battery and you're stuck for a few minutes. VERY embarrassing at the car wash.
When the HV battery runs low it will stop the AC compressor. This is done to keep the HV battery from going below its normal operating voltage floor. You cannot override this protection (to my knowledge.) This feature has been present in every electric AC compressor Hybrid I've owned.
Although...
If the crankshaft machining is the reason for engine failure, wouldn't an engine oil test be the most convenient detection method? Metals will be detected in the engine oil if it's scoring through the bearings to the point of failure.
I have the Ford branded one and I add more tension after rolling the cover out by undoing the Velcro edges and pulling them tight before reattaching. Nothing will completely remove all movement but this helps.
Itās much tighter than the Amazon generic I have on my 6.5ā bed F150.
Thatās interesting that the fluid is cooled in the radiator this time. That provides some added confidence for towing that I didnāt have in older hybrids. Thanks for getting under and taking a picture!
In my previous Ford eCVTs the fluid looked to be cooled passively by the low temp coolant...
I was attempting to quote tom_trucker but failed.
Because this thread is the top result using the search tool, I hope other 2023 model owners run into it. The sea of warning messages and lights is probably this same non-issue.
Iāve had it happen twice on my ā23 hybrid. I jiggle/spin the gear dial around while the vehicle is in accessory power (when it should be locked but isnāt) until it does eventually lock. This resolves the problem.
Iām waiting for some TSB or other action to cover 23s before I waste my time...
Mine (built 12/14/22) finally was loaded on a rail car 1/6/23. The estimated delivery range is 2/6/23-2/12/23 and it only has to make it to San Antonio, TX..
Although, as of yesterday the Union Pacific trace says itāll make to SA on 1/18/23. But who knows how long that last leg from rail yard...
I enjoyed your towing stories! Although I do kind of wonder how the crash bar style towing works on the Maverick. But didnāt they used to genuinely bumper tow everything back in the day?
Anyhow, I use weight distribution and aggressive mechanical sway control without issue all the time on my...
My build week is this week (12/12) but I got a window sticker with blend date of 12/5. It sat on that āin productionā status until today 12/14 where it finally changed to ābuilt.ā
I think everything is running on schedule but their blend dates arenāt really blend dates..
I run E15 whenever possible in my thirsty 3.5 Ecoboost Explorer. That 1 octane point is noticed in performance but it does get 1-1.5 less MPG. However thatās offset by it being 15Ā¢ cheaper on average.
Recently, I have hesitantly ran it in my 2007 Escape Hybrid because itās a whopping 55Ā¢ cheaper...
