To be fair, for some dumbfounding reason, we don't get XL models. It's mid-specced XLTs and Lariats only, which is infuriating considering we looooove (and need 'cause the average Mexican earns very little in comparison to an American) our barebones base models.
We also don't get to custom...
Fun fact, the sign was actually invented for colonial Spain's Peso and inherited by the former Spanish colonies after independence, then afterwards it was adopted by the US for the dollar.
Mine died at about 40k miles with the correct fluid level and no towing or heavy hauling, just lots of city driving. The diagnosis was burnt fluid, still replaced under warranty.
I have a '22 built in mid '21, came with a flooded battery. A year into owning it I parked at a drugstore, came back and it wouldn't crank. I tried to jumpstart it for an hour and it just wouldn't work, the battery was already at 12.6v, if I recall correctly, under no load. I checked and...
Greetings everyone,
Recently I had my transmission burn up for no real reason and got it replaced under warranty. After a few days driving, my truck has developed this low-pitched squeak or growl coming from the front end when braking at low speeds, releasing the brakes after a full stop, and...
I just had a look at the technician's report. Fluid level was correct, but was completely burnt, then the technician lists the parts with excessive wear that need to be replaced.
I never towed or exceeded max payload or gross weight. I don't have the towing package as it wasn't available in...
In case you're curious, here's the actual list of parts the technician found need to be replaced. Excluding hardware and seals, it lists:
Front planetary gearset
Rear planetary gearset
Internal transmission oil filter
Transmission oil cartridge
Transmission oil pump
Valve body
Transmission...
It took nearly two months but Ford has finally authorized the replacement of the transmission. Turns out they rejected it the first time, but the dealership sent the request again and now it was approved. Damn suits at corporate lol. Now I have to wait for the replacement to arrive.
A quick update:
Last week I was told that the transmission technician didn't report a possible cause of failure, but said that all the internal transmission clutches and the valve body burned up and need to be replaced, as well as the internal fluid filter, incoming and outgoing power shafts...
Not in Mexico, there's only the 3 year / 60k km (37k mi) bumper to bumper with no extra time or mileage for the power train. I do have the extended 6 year / 120k km (74 k mi) warranty available here.
By the way, in the USA it is also only 3 years 36k mi bumper to bumper, plus 5 years 60k mi...
No mods, no towing, never carried enough passengers in the cab and weight in the bed to reach the rated gross weight, never maxed the payload weight, very mild softroading as I need to use dirt roads often, helped 5 friends move furniture :)
PTU is the power transfer unit, it's what splis power to enable All wheel drive, and the RDU is the rear drive unit, which is the rear differential with the mechanism that actually disconnects power to the rear wheels when not needed.
Worth noting that DCT (dual clutch transmission), which is what the Santa Cruz turbo has, is not at all related to a CVT (continuously variable transmission), which is also very different to the eCVT in mavericks and priuses for hard to explain mechanichal reasons, but which is way more reliable.
There's a good bunch of threads referencing 8F35 failure in in the same way as me in this site, with the transmission slipping more and more in certain gears, none of which had bad converters that we know of and most of which had shot solenoids and gear damage.
As for checking the fluid level...
