Greetings,
I opened the Ford Pass app today to start my truck and was greeted by this notification telling me my truck successfully updated and that I needed to physically start it to reenable remote start and lock/unlock. I did not note the software version of the radio or other modules so no...
Prepare for a wall of text :)
I did indeed replace all speakers and added a subwoofer. I did not add any kind of amp. The difference in sound quality is very noticeable. A few notes and caveats:
1.- The door speakers are very easy to upgrade. I used this thread to guide myself through that...
Mine came with only a subtle new car smell, nothing you could really get offended by, and that's considering I seem to be overly sensitive to any smell and get nauseous easily. Mine probably spent the least time from manufacture to delivery since I'm in Mexico. Maybe your dealership used...
Not to be a party pooper but the AAWireless box gets pretty hot and I don't think it being in an enclosed, unventilated space would be a good idea long term.
Yep, had it as well, the rear speakers and the tweeters have this crunchy quality to their sound. It went away by installing aftermarket speakers in all locations 😂. Honestly I'd never had a vehicle with decent sound quality like the maverick yet have that annoying distortion.
It's perfectly normal, it's the injectors and the lack of an engine cover and sound deadening in the hood to cover up the noise. I have another direct-injection car and it sounds like my Maverick if I open the hood while running.
Also, the tweeters in the dash and the speakers in the C Pillar use the same connector but they have a little protrusion that prevents you from plugging the tweeters at the C pillars and vice versa. It won't stop you from using the mismatched metra adapters on either, though.
Nope, I couldn't find the proper adapter for the rear speakers (assuming you're talking about the plugs). I tried my luck and ordered these and they're not the same as the factory plug. However, by carefully slightly bending down the pins inside and carefully aligning them these will...
By the way, check your spare tire is fully tensioned and the lug nut is fully tightened. I used to have a Nissan truck that would sueak like mad over any bump unless the spare tire was tightened down very strongly. Took me a while to figure it out.
That said, my Maverick has no squeaks either...
I installed Infinity Reference 6532IX in the front doors with Metra Ford mounting adapters and Reference 4032CFX in the rear pillars. The 6532IX has an angled tweeter, so I installed them so that they were pointing up in a 45° angle. Stock speakers are not terrible but they have some distortion...
This happened to me once as well, no amount of finagling restored sound. Next time give your radio the ole reset by pressing the power and next track buttons simultaneously for at least 10 seconds.
There's also the AAWireless, which might or might not have been ripped off by Moto's partners who actually designed the MA1, or who knows lol.
AAWireless is cheaper (only slightly but if they get their supply chain back under control they might go back to being like 15 bucks cheaper) and has a...
I'll take some measurements for you, I'll see if I can come up with something to measure the depth with the seat latched.
I tried to fit a sub there and nothing but underseat powered subs like the kicker HS8 and HS10 fits there due to their depth.
I went with a rockford fosgate P300-8P below...
By the way, the front door speaker channels do transmit full range including the high end, I installed coaxial speakers with a built-in tweeter and it works just fine. The tweeters in the dash do also have a capacitor built into them as a cheapo high-pass filter, that means they might be...
