Let the battery drain to many times and needed a BMS reset that you CAN indeed do with forscan
RESET bms and now auto start stop works

Some oil may be beneficial on some where others isn't
Ford has noticed on the higher reving 5.2L and the 5.0 v8s they want them installed dry no oil on oring - vibration helps walk the filters off and thus creates oil leaks
Some do require it and some don't
This is not the case generally, batteries in the auto start stop are typically AGM and Or can take More abuse and the components now are much more rigid and can take the abuse
I've never seen a electrical failure or replacement due to auto start stop
Most actually do have clear flood mode even older ones, it's been a staple with MANY manufacturers especially Ford
