I was one of them.
First, as of now, I prefer the Maverick over the Hyundai, as the MPG #'s will leave the Santa Cruz in the dust.
For those folks obsessed with towing capability, the Santa Cruz 2.5T would be the better choice.
Outside of max towing, Ford just took a dump in Hyundai's cereal...
If you Google "2.0l ecoboost mpg," the following is the top result:
21/32/25 MPG
The 2.0L EcoBoost® 4-cylinder engine produces 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque as it achieves an EPA-estimated 21/32/25 MPG city/highway/combined or 20/29/23 MPG city/highway/combined with AWD.
My thoughts? WHOLLY F&^%ING $H!+ Batman!
I never in my wildest dreams expected the base model ($20ish-k) to be a hybrid.
I am a little disappointed there is no AWD hybrid option.
The rear legroom and overall people carrier area is perfect for my current and future needs.
The bed is all I...
I first saw it reported in a news article, but the Santa Cruz fuel economy numbers are not great. They are not surprising, given the MPG listed for the 2022 Tuscon. In a nutshell, the Santa Cruz is listed at 22-23 combined mpg (19-21 City/ 26-27 Hwy). This is on par with many mid-sized SUV's...
That's exactly why I see the incentives continuing and, possibly increasing. The tax incentives allow manufacturers to charge higher prices, b/c the tax credit is basically an MSRP boost....but that is just my opinion.
Great....you've expressed a desire for the XL Ranger RWD, so buy that.
Some of us need the quad/crew cab more than a an extended bed.
My guess is IFF this sells better than the Ecosport, then you will see lower end "commercial" offerings of the Maverick pickup.
" A naturally aspirated four-cylinder remains a possibility for the entry-level model to keep costs down, while the Maverick will also come with a hybrid powertrain option. "
I hope to ~bleep~ the 4wd hybrid option is priced no higher than 30k.

I doubt anything that passes thru Congress would be as generous as the above listed bill, but I'm guessing the cap for individual manufacturers will be raised, or eliminated. Sadly, whatever the tax...
I have to admit...with the tax credits, and the standard crewcab...I will be very tempted to buy a base-level/commercial F150 lightning, IF it is available to basic consumer.
The lightning, like most EV's are too pricy for my blood. If the entry model includes a crew cab, then it might enter my consideration, but there are no trim details available right now.
The Range would cover most of my day-to-day driving needs, but would need a crew-cab to handle my family's...
I have certainly cooled a bit on the Maverick, and the new small pick-ups, in general. I like the idea of a small pickup, because I want a bed vice SUV cargo space. Yet, I can't justify spending the cash required to get a crewcab mid-sized truck, plus I don't want to lose 15-20mpg JUST to have a...
Unless we're looking at some sort of manipulation, beyond a simple overlay, it sure looks like we're looking at a 200" truck with passenger capacity on par with the BS (bronco sport) and coming close to a 5' bed, probably about 54".
I noticed in spy shots with the Ranger, that the Maverick and...
Could Ford be testing the Maverick's capabilities with different load sizes and/or weight distributions (back seat + bed, with different bed load positioning)? Testing how the different engine and drive trains handle distance travel various load levels?
Is this even a performance test utilized...
