Yes, you can open and close the tailgate with the cover closed.

The top mounts are pretty easy to install. It comes with a primer that you put on before sticking the mounts so I’m sure it will hold.

Ya, it’s on the high side of the hard folding covers. It was 15% off when I ordered it which helped. I do feel it’s worth the couple hundred extra I paid vs the other popular hard covers.

You have to stick 2 magnetic brackets to the roof. I found a few YouTube videos that shows the installation of the brackets. The brackets were the main reason I considered going with a different brand. I’m glad I went with the Lomax.
