This could be a really long wait. Based on chips, for every hybrid they can build 10 2.0s (3000 vs 300). If I was Ford, I might make that same decision, especially right now.
Sucks, but it is what it is.
I was wondering how many more chips it takes to build a hybrid. Didn't think it would be 10 times the amount. No wondering they are only looking to reach 30% production.
This is what I don't get......we all ordered this truck knowing about the shortages. There has been story after story about shortages in commodities, shortages in transport, shortages in labor. We all knew that the car lots were empty and companys were strugglingmto get cars onto those lots...
The other half was a car salesman and then finance manager for over 20 years. Leasing is based on residuals, so there would be some crazy deals that you just couldn't pass up, like an Escalade for $99 a month. So, we were always switching out one for another. 1-2 years at most.
More recently...
Yes, exactly. I'm vaccinated, but I can still transmit it to someone else. And, I really don't want to be responsible for someone else's illness or even death.
It's like the 6 degrees of separation with this thing.
We use precautions as if they are a human family member that is unable to be vaccinated. Get vaccinated, wear masks when out, & socially distance. Better safe than sorry.
Re Porcaro Ford in Racine: my info is that they have one 2.5 coming and about 25 2.0s coming. He believes the hybrid is not a retail order, but may be a training vehicle. Take this for what it is worth.
From what I understand, Ford wants dealerships to verify the identity of the person placing the order before it goes into the system. Their goal is to make sure that an actual person is ordering the vehicle (not fake orders made by dealerships) and that the order goes to the person who made it...
I think they are just trying to keep us happy. We were told that we would have a VIN within 10 days. It's been well over 2 weeks. With no scheduling this week, it will be well over 3. Pretty sure customer service knows about as much as we do, which is close to nothing.
I know we were the first at our dealership as well.
I take this with a grain of salt......the other half called Ford. He was told we should have a vin within 10 days and the truck within 6-8 weeks. We'll see.
I can see this. When I was first doing our reservation, I had included the 2.0 off road package and other options. But after I thought about it for bit, I decided that we really didn't need all that stuff. Just like we really didn't need Wranglers that we've bought in the past. This time I...
Great thread title!
Our alto blue XLT hybrid with 360 & hitch receiver was ordered on 6/11. I am completely flummoxed that hydrid production is/will be at 35%. Makes no sense to me.
