I can't vouch for a frontal collision. But I can guarantee that when a Hyundai Elantra hits you from behind at 90km/h (55mph) while you're completely stopped at a red light. It holds up quite nicely. I drove over 60kms back home after the collision at highway speed and nothing was wrong with the...
Yup! I got lucky and took a picture of the guy in the background before he ran away. The police were able to identify him. He had an open arrest warrant on his name already and a suspended license. But they still can't find him.
I guess he's good at hide and seek lol.
I'm suffering from whiplash, back pain and a sore wrist and palm.
And I could but it'll take months for another to get built and prices have gone up over $15k and interest rates have tripled since I got mine last year. So my payments would be double :(
That isn't good. I guess that's why these trucks are so inexpensive. Cutting cost in many areas. I had originally heard that the cost savings were on things that didn't really matter. Guess not.
Oh yeah he ran on foot. Even with a bloody face lol. The vehicle wasn't functional after that. Total loss. I'm surprised that the Maverick's rear end caused that much damage!
I got a picture of the guy but he ran away lol. Found out later that he was probably drunk because his car apparently smelt like alcohol and the vehicle was stolen.
Oh shoot! I mean, most vehicles are designed to absorb collisions and are write offs after little fender benders.
Oh well, hopefully they'll cover my car loan at least. Now I'm fighting for my injuries. Been a week I'm off work so far. Damn whiplash.
And the police still can't find the guy...
Yeah the sides of the box were pushed forward a bit. I'm not sure if it's only the exterior body panels or if it's something underneath. Either way, sucks!
I agree. I think it was the receiver that crumpled his hood like that and bent his interior bumper. I "walked" away but dealing with whiplash, sore back, wrist and palm. A week so far with bad pain isn't fun! The police still can't find the guy :(
I was surprised on how little there was. I even drove it over 60kms around town to find an available body shop to get me a quote and hopefully repair it. At highway speeds I might add lol. It drove perfectly and I didn't feel anything wrong with it.
But the hitches are normally bolted or welded...
I agree! My truck saved me in a bad rear end collision. The driver was going 70-90km/h while I was completely stopped at a red light.
My truck sustained minimal damage but I'm still waiting to see if it's a complete loss. I'm thinking that it might be because the receiver was bent downwards.
Oh I agree. Nothing will help me out if they catch him and he doesn't have insurance. I hate how the innocent often get screwed over in instances like these. Our laws are flawed.
That's bad news for me then. I was stopped at a red light and was hit at 80-90km/h by a drunk driver who stole the car. He wasn't wearing his seatbelt, smashed his face in the windshield because the airbags didn't deploy and then ran off into the woods.
The TAC and K9 units are still looking...
Oh yes, shipping and all the hidden fees had made it go up by over 3k I think. It's ridiculous.
But oh well, it's still one of the cheapest vehicles that money can buy.
