As someone else stated, can't you just put the tailgate into 3/4 position? Isn't that the whole point of that rigging point? I haven't used it yet to load sheets of anything, but it seems like a great feature.

I'm curious about this too. I want to install D rail on the sides, but my factory drop in bedliner doesn't have the access holes. Even if you take the sides off, how do you get the holes drilled exactly where they need to be? A tape measure?
