  1. Why are so many Mavericks getting rear ended?

I installed a flashing light on my high mounted brake light. Flashes 6 or 7 times in rapid succession, as soon as my brakes are applied. Short of anyone driving behind me while on their phone, tailgating drivers WILL notice it. My biggest fear is being rear ended at freeway exits when the...
  2. Mothercuddler! Truck is likely a write-off from being rear-ended

You are thinking like me. Go to the Kahtec website. I have already installed a blinking high mounted brake light on my hybrid Lariat. There are many variations offered. I bought the Intelligent version and am satisfied. I will add, I had one on a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid many years ago and it...
  3. Not my wife.... totaled our Maverick 1.0 but we tracked down another !

Not for me on any of the three vehicles I had them installed on (2004 Focus, 2010 Fusion Hybrid and Maverick Hybrid). Didn’t have issues with it either. I used the same brand each time.
  4. Not my wife.... totaled our Maverick 1.0 but we tracked down another !

Short of picking a more visible vehicle color to begin with (like school bus yellow), you have done more than enough to avoid being rear ended. After all, school buses get run into, as well as tractor trailers. When a moving driver is on their phone, collisions are inevitable. I do wish...
  5. Not my wife.... totaled our Maverick 1.0 but we tracked down another !

I bought and installed a blinking third brake light on my truck. It causes that third brake light to rapidly pulse or flash upon braking (before remaining solid). It is supposed to attract the attention of the distracted driver behind you, that you are decelerating. The one I have was purchased...
  6. Chevrolet is working on a new compact pickup truck for 2023 called the Montana

Actually, General Motors has (had) a hybrid engine in their inventory, that ā€œcouldā€œ be used in this vehicle, as a Maverick competitor. My son drives a ā€˜16 Chevy Malibu Hybrid, that gets around 40 mpg, in real world driving. It has a 1.8L turbo engine. However, I can’t tell you where it was...
  7. Any actual competition (even rumored) to the Maverick?

I feel your pain in this dilemma. In my thinking, the biggest drawbacks in purchasing a Santa Cruz are A) You are getting 2.7L F150 fuel mileage (or close to it) and B) and paying for a base F150 price. Both in a much smaller package. Doesn’t sound like a win/win to me. When gas prices go...
