Third antenna input is for DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), found in Europe and 40+ other countries, but not in North America. It broadcast at different frequency than FM, so needs different antenna not available in North America.
This from the Detroit Free Press on 3/13:
News of a plan to ship additional Ford vehicles [in addition to Explorer] without chips was disclosed by Andrew Frick, Ford vice president of sales in the U.S. and Canada, during a meeting at the annual National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA) Show...
So you are saying that Automotive News and numerous other journalist covering the auto industry are committing journalistic malpractice when they report that Ford will sell vehicles with “non-safety critical ships” un-installed. They are all mis-reporting the true fact, that Ford will sell...
You are correct. I understand only entire modules can be replaced in the field, and not individual chips in a module. Then, if this is true, I believe only the following non-critical modules can be left off at the factory:
A, any build with Co-pilot 360: SODL & SODR, the side obstacle...
Would Co-Pilot 360 chips be “NON-Critical” safety features? These features are NOT required by IIHS for their safety ratings, nor by NHTSA, whereas front break assist is.
When we placed a deposit last summer, we understood we were buying a wildly popular new model amidst a pandemic and global chip shortage. What was never clearly explained to us is the big black box in the process: Ford’s “Market Basket Allocation System”, which apparently trumps all other...
If the dealer calls and says you can get your Maverick this model year if you drop Co-Pilot 360, and you counter that I will drop the package if you re-program the IPMA module to enable Lane keeping Assist, and install the turn signal stalk required, do you think the dealer would do that? Would...
I find this thread interesting; for me, it gives some insight as to where Ford is shorting the customer by simply locking up features which already have the necessary sensors and computational power built into the vehicle, unless the customer pays more to unlock it. But much of the information...
Or alternatively, the analysis is wrong, and the door modules are only on any model with the optional CP360, to control the BLIS warnings in the side mirrors.
Seat heat and power would not go thru the doors. Maybe the analysis is wrong, and that module is for one-touch power windows, which means this module would be on all Lariats but no XLT. That is the only other difference on the doors between XLT and Lariat, according to the order guide.
The Pedestrian Alert Control Module has to be on all engines, trims and packages, since it is a feature of the Ford Co-pilot 360 that is standard equipment on ALL models (as opposed to only being on models with the OPTIONAL CP360 package).
Read the original memo. It says the customer has to “work with his dealer” to convert his 2022 order to a 2023 order. “Working with a dealer” means working out a price. It says nothing about price protection.
They only said they will price protect order made before the Dec. 26, 2021 price increase. THEY NEVER MADE ANY COMMITMENT TO PRICE PROTECT ORDERS REMADE FOR 2023 MODELS. DON‘T EXPECT PRICE PROTCTION ON THAT!
This clarification still leaves a lot a logical gaps that still need further clarification. Tim stipulates that the build combinations 1-10 are listed in the memo are listed in order of severity of constraint, so combination #1 is most constrained and combination #10 is least constrained. If the...
