VW's were great. A shade treee mechanic could work on them. I changed the oil in my parents VW's The darn thing didn't have a oil filter, but rather a oil screen to catch any boulders lol.

My MIL had a green Dodge Dart with very low miles. She drove it 5 miles to work & back. When she retired they sold it and bought a Buick, imagine that. At that time, my future wife had a Mercury Comet, which was the sister car of the Ford Maverick. I see that there are a few of them around for...
  7. Toff Bed-liner Installation on my Maverick: Before/After

I would say that is a pretty good price. I paid $495 for the factory spray 2 1/2 years ago so it hasn't gone up much in price with all the price gouging that has been going on since January of last year.

Interesting parallel. I'm sure you remember the oil embargo that lasted from October 1973 to March 1974 when you could hardly buy any gas. Long lines for the pumps could be seen for blocks. When I bought gas it was generally later on in the evening like 11PM when the crowds thinned out. It was a...

I remember when gas was 29.9. We have a 56 VW and it didn't have a fuel gauge. My dad would open the hood and put a dipstick in the fuel tank to check the fuel level lol. Back then you had to manually calculate your gas mileage or you were left on the side of the road. Luckilly that didn't...

WOW you really are a crazy car guy. You have had 77 vehicles since you were 16, but 48 of them have been new purchases. 29 of those 77 have been of the used variety. Buying used is always a roll of the dice. Did you do the inspections yourself or did you have a mechanic on retainer ?

You need heated seals in Alabama ? I guess there are a few times where they would come in handy as cold temps sometimes push that far south. They are great in the midwest and if you have back problems the seat back heats up really nice and feels pretty good. How do you feel about your 3yr 36K...
  17. If you had a chance to order again what would you change?

I hear so much about the benefits of a hybrid in this forum that I think I have become brain washed. So I think I would go for a Lariat hybrid in HOT PPR with the AWD, 4K tow, FX4 and definately heated seats. Sorry, I just woke up from a nap. The wife says, stick with what you have. Now I'm bummed.
  18. Ordered my 4th Maverick - a 2026 Lariat Hybrid AWD

Very nice. I am partial to the red one however.
  19. 2022 Ecoboost Maverick 90,000 Mile Review

Loved the video. His kid was conked out in his car seat and I'm guessing he got tired of listening to his Dad yapping.
