As mentioned before, do not look for the word "Polishing" when it comes to anything but actual polishing. Wiping away excess coating, wax, sealant, etc. is not polishing the surface in any way and is simply a misuse of wording.
When looking for a microfiber towel you want something with a...
Some good tips here, but a few points I wanted to clarify as they could cause some confusion for OP"
- Clay does not smooth out paint or remove imperfections. Clay bars pull embedded contamination from the pores of the clearcoat and anything your shampoo, tar remover, etc. can not remove during...
I honestly think the "thin paint" thing is overblown. When I received my Hybrid XLT last year in Carb Grey I measured the paint with our highline paint meter and everything measured out well within average thicknesses. I personally would avoid hammering down any orange peel and while many say...
I am about a year into my ownership (11k) miles and like you I love pretty much everything about the truck. It is a great vehicle at a great price and I really like the utility over the bed, organizer, etc.
My only two issues are the ease of scratching on the plastics and my brake pads/rotors...
You do not want to use Aerospace. That is designed for vinyl, rubber, plastic, etc. The 303 Fabric Guard or something like the Gtechniq I1 or Gyeon Fabric Coat are better protective options for fabric surfaces.
They replaced the front pads, machined the rotors, but that didn’t help. They told me to keep an eye on it and they are now replacing all 4 rotors next week. According to the tech, the rotors in the back look much worse than last time.
Thanks for the tip! With these being replaced under warranty im going to see how it works out. If I continue to have issues, I will DIY with some better Rock Auto ones for sure.
I’ve never had brake noise like this before, or hot spots, pitting, etc. nearly this fast either. Averaging 41mpg, mostly suburbs/city, some highway rides to the lake. I’m chalking it up as issues with the rotors and pads themselves. With my Taurus I would wait for a deal on pads/rotors and they...
Update here guys, after the new brake pads (front) and machined rotors, I was still having noise. Went in again and they said the rotors are crap and have bad hot spots and pitting. All are being replaced under warranty, they just have to be ordered.
Interesting! Thanks for the added info here … something I need to keep an eye on, just that creaking, clunking noise is driving me nuts at every damn stop. I’m having a buddy of mine check it out this weekend for a different point of view but if it is only crappy pads/rotors I will use them more...
I appreciate it! Love the truck, I’m just annoyed with the noises at each stop now lol … I will monitor it and start looking at some ceramic pads and rotors.
It stopped smooth up until that last bit. I get that grunt and then a slight jerk. Nothing crazy though and I’m happy to hear you think nothing is wrong. Certainly some of the hybrid paranoia right now and not having that noise on any other vehicle I have had. Well at least night with new brake!
Pretty flat driving for sure and about 9k miles in the year I have had it. The only time I took it more mountain driving was Vermont last fall, but that is about it. Between this issue and the braking noise I am not sure if there is more of an issue. I was just looking for more opinions before...
I took it in because the vehicle makes a big grunt when the brakes initiate a complete stop. No noise when I brake, but when the vehicle comes to a complete stop there is a loud creak or so. It happens when the brakes come off the rotors when going into park or when leaning off the brakes at...
I posted this reply to another poster here, but:
"What is weird is this vehicle makes a big grunt when the brakes initiate a complete stop. No noise when I brake, but when the vehicle comes to a complete stop there is a loud creak or so. It happens when the brakes come off the rotors when going...
I can get 40k or so out of mine. I am not crazy on the brakes and with this hybrid I have been trying to coast more and get better gas mileage. What is weird is this vehicle makes a big grunt when the brakes initiate a complete stop. No noise when I brake, but when the vehicle comes to a...
Anyone having any issues with the factory brake pads and rotors? I just got back from the dealership and my front brake pads cracked and rotors were warped. They machined the rotors and replaced the brake pads under warranty, but said to keep an eye on it. 9k miles hybrid xlt, should I push to...
