  1. Why Does 11.7V seem to be magic number?

From my post above (#13): "First I should point out that we have a 2022 BS Badlands. In addition to the BS forum I belong to the Maverick forum since some issues are the same or similar." So no ACCM update. Regardless of the vehicle -- Maverick, Bronco Sport, etc., all FLA and AGM batteries...
  2. Why Does 11.7V seem to be magic number?

What caught my eye initially was that the OP, Butch, wrote: "I have noticed that 11.7V seems to be a trend for low voltage cutoff. Most OBD2 dash cam power supplies use 11.7 as their cutoff and Ford uses it, in my experience, for the battery saver mode in my Maverick. Readings base on a 12V...
  3. Why Does 11.7V seem to be magic number?

First I should point out that we have a 2022 BS Badlands. In addition to the BS forum I belong to the Maverick forum since some issues are the same or similar. 50 mA is reasonable. The question is, why do many Maverick and Bronco Sport owners report that the system goes into 'battery saver'...
  4. Why Does 11.7V seem to be magic number?

I'm surprised that a battery at 11.3 > 11.5V could start an engine. That's basically dead -- 0% SOC. Maybe the measurement was off, or perhaps the battery was under load when the measurement was taken? Regardless, deep discharges will severely limit the number of cycles the battery is capable...
  5. Why Does 11.7V seem to be magic number?

The rule of thumb with FLA and AGM batteries is to not discharge them below 50% SOC. It's not as if 48% SOC will kill a battery, but the greater the depth of discharge, the fewer cycles the battery will provide. This is just an example: 11.7V is 80% DoD.
  6. Chrome Lug Nuts Gotta Go

When we ordered our Badlands about 4 years ago, Ford advertised the fender flares for $500, incl. installation. The salesman, who had a very loose association with the truth and had lied to us about other things, told us that installation was NOT included and the amount was a mystery. He...
  7. Anyone ever have issues getting warranty service at dealers they didn't buy from?

I have not claimed that some Ford dealerships refuse to do warranty work, although I imagine that it happens, as with essentially all makes. Of course on paper, dealerships (for all mfrs) are required to honor the factory warranty, and it seems most do, but plenty of people do get turned away...
  8. Anyone ever have issues getting warranty service at dealers they didn't buy from?

I am reminded of the fable of the 6 blind men describing an elephant. One is touching the tail, another a leg, another guy the trunk, etc. Each one is adamant that they *know* what an elephant looks like. I agree that it's stupid, bad business, etc., but some dealerships do refuse to do OE...
  9. Anyone ever have issues getting warranty service at dealers they didn't buy from?

I forgot to mention that I do write the date and mileage on each filter. It is borderline academic though because engines so rarely fail -- esp during the warranty period.
  10. Anyone ever have issues getting warranty service at dealers they didn't buy from?

Nope. It has never happened and almost certainly never will. It is exceedingly rare for a properly maintained engine to develop problems or fail during the warranty period. In fact, most engines are still running fine when the vehicle is falling apart. I save the filters because there is...
  11. New Battery Not Covered under warranty

If only that were the case. Some dealers (all makes) are very reluctant to do OEM warranty work -- esp on vehicles they did not sell. That is an established fact. Service managers and techs have confirmed it. It pays less for both parts and labor, and it is often a hassle dealing with mfr...
  12. New Battery Not Covered under warranty

What I wrote above was meant as a joke: So you expect us to believe the dealer refused to do warranty work? I went on to mention a bad experience I had. Sadly, what you've described is all too common. Is there another dealer nearby?
  13. Anyone ever have issues getting warranty service at dealers they didn't buy from?

Ideally, saving receipts should be enough. Ideally. It's not a matter of being easier or better (that's why I wrote, "...in addition to what you mentioned, you might consider saving the oil filters...). Having heard so many horror stories about dealers and/or mfrs refusing to honor their...
  14. New Battery Not Covered under warranty

So you expect us to believe the dealer refused to do warranty work? Yeah, that's a big problem, and there is at least one thread dedicated to it. Many dealers do not like warranty work -- esp if it is not cut and dry, because the mfr generally will not pay for a lot of troubleshooting...
  15. 100k Miles Oil Analysis Report Arrived. All looks good (EcoBoost engine)

Exactly! I'm constantly amused by the declarations oil threads contain. "Everyone MUST change their oil at X miles, no exceptions! You vil comply!" All situations are different. Many probably are close enough that they could use the same change interval, but there is definitely a...
  16. 100k Miles Oil Analysis Report Arrived. All looks good (EcoBoost engine)

I say, if 5,000 miles is good, and 3,000 is better, then dagnabit, 1,500 mile intervals are even better still!
  17. Anyone ever have issues getting warranty service at dealers they didn't buy from?

Absolutely it is better to know up front. Potential buyers should definitely confirm that at least one area dealer will accept the warranty with no drama. Yep, posting reviews is always a good idea. It can help others avoid an expensive, time-consuming hassle -- and increase the odds that...
  18. Anyone ever have issues getting warranty service at dealers they didn't buy from?

A few possibilities: * The hardware was never replaced * It was reinstalled but not torqued properly * The bolts that secure the skid plate have blue thread locker on them from the factory. I have read that where thread locker is used, it should be reapplied every time the bolts are...
  19. Extended Warranty - opinions on purchasing?

Dealers love to bring up "loyalty" but their idea of loyalty is often a one-way street -- as you experienced. I've run into the "loyalty" issue when attempting to have warranty repairs done at a dealer that did not sell me the vehicle. "Well, maybe if you were a "loyal customer" we could help...
