  1. Video: Summer Heat Hybrid MPG Loss Explained

That's why it's not affected as much or at all. A mixture allows for a more normal cycle of coast regen and travel recharge of the battery. The video is based on strictly city mpg performance.

  3. Video: Summer Heat Hybrid MPG Loss Explained

Like many Maverick Hybrid owners, our truck has seen huge mpg drops from winter and spring to the extreme heat of summer. Ours went from a 47 mpg average to 35 mpg average. This video explains the mechanical and design reasons why it's happening and why not to panic that something is wrong.

  9. Found the ambient high temperature limits of the hybrid's electric motor/battery

That is kind of a separate matter from the discussion here. The reverse EV power and its limitations exists no matter where you are or what the temperatures. The gas engine will always fire up to power the generator to power the traction motor if the battery cannot adequately supply the power...
  10. Found the ambient high temperature limits of the hybrid's electric motor/battery

No. If your vehicle is in a fail-safe mode you would have a check engine or similar indicator on as you would genuinely have a problem. That is part of the OBD SAE convention all cars adhere to.
  11. Found the ambient high temperature limits of the hybrid's electric motor/battery

Fail safe mode is not what those of us discussing this matter in this thread are experiencing. Fail safe mode is another thing entirely, where a fault of some kind does exist and the system powers down such that you should park the vehicle or limit its use. If you are in fail safe mode it's...
  12. Found the ambient high temperature limits of the hybrid's electric motor/battery

But the conditions discussed in this thread are not faults of the system, it's a programmed operating mode. There is no reason to warn over it. It's not broken.
  14. Maverick to be safety tested by NHTSA

They will eventually. With the sales being so hot, their insurance company members (IIHS is an org of them) will want some depth in what it costs to fix them and the people who get injured in them - why the IIHS exists. The IIHS is better and more cutting edge in their testing because the...
  15. Maverick to be safety tested by NHTSA

NHTSA testing is largely irrelevant and antiquated. IIHS is who's testing that will matter. They go far more in depth.
  16. Recall 22S47 Pictures of work done - add yours if you want

It's not super tidy but one has to remember it was only 5-10 years ago we had no under shields at all. Take this into account when over worrying about a few extra holes killing aerodynamics or causing salt issues.
