I went from ordering an XL with spray in option, to an XLT due to cruise control add on fears. Then, the first really cold weather hit us, and I was freezing my ass off. The Luxury package was added. My cheap truck suddenly isn't. Also, I experienced the Lux package price increase to $2500.00...
I worked at a Lincoln Mercury dealer in the 70's thru 90's. The regular Mercs were OK. The Pinto was a Bobcat, the Maverick a Comet, the Granada a Monarch. The Mercury had a little more finesse, but were normal for the times vehicles. Then the excrement hit the air conditioning with the fuel...
...ah, kind of spooky.
I really wanted the dongle so I could sit in any vehicle and use my Android Auto in every car I drive (many) without the need to plug in and unplug my phone constantly, wearing out another charging port on my device, When I do get MY Mav (and if the AA Wireless thing...
Did you ask for a key and test sit it? I first sat in an XL with a manual seat, which was fine. (I am 6'1"and a little over 1/8th of a ton) After my after market cruise control nervous breakdown, I went to the XLT. Again at the dealer...GIMME A FREAKIN' KEY!!! (you have to be aggressive) Power...
I was on Route 6 West on Cape Cod and saw a beautiful one. I was driving with a Kia salesman, as we were in route to pick up a new vehicle at another dealer for one of his customers.
I spotted it, and as I approached to pass, recognized the offset rear plate. "THAT'S A MAVERICK!!!" I declared...
I did not order one in the XLT. If it was power for $155 I probably would have. If it had a bumper car cab (no rear seat) and I could reach it to open and close it, I would do the manual. I took a ride from Bar Harbor, Maine to my first pit stop with one of those frigging wind noise makers...
Looks like a rock hit. Any damage behind the hole? It would have sounded like a bullet though to do that damage, unless you are Mr. Magoo. (or old enough to know who Mr. Magoo is)
I drive for several local dealers. The manufacturers make the tires hard so they will be less susceptible to damage from rails, transporters. coming off of ships, and hanging around too long. Proper inflation should be done during the PDI (pre-delivery inspection). It is very often ignored,
I ordered a Cactus gray XL originally, as I had seen one at a local dealer, and thought it was awesome looking. I still think they are attractive.
Then one day in my travels, I came across a white one. Had to change it after that sighting, I also went to the XLT for the cruise. Sad to loose...
I wish:
Stand alone cruise option for XL
Steelies available on XLT and Larry's with an "aluminum wheel delete" credit option. (I think steelies
look wicked pissa ' on the Mav, to use the vernacular)
Real full size spare option with a matching wheel.
The End
DANG! I had to do it. After all the agonizing over cruise control not being there, and thoughts of wire stripping nightmares with splices for aftermarket add on stuff, I upped my deficit by moovin' on up. (I may rename this vehicle Jefferson!) Besides the fact I am really cheap, I am poor too...
