  1. Collision Assist Unavailable (Dash Warning)

Thanx for the tip. It is set at medium per default and I see people getting alerts in town at that setting. I don't want any more distractions in town. My wife is challenging enough!:sneaky:
  2. Collision Assist Unavailable (Dash Warning)

I get the warning a hundred yards away only when the vehicle ahead is turning right. NEVER had a warning closer than 100 yards. Thanks, Ford.
  3. Collision Assist Unavailable (Dash Warning)

Ford disclaims all responsibility for all the technology they forced upon you. It is the drivers responsibility to operate the vehicle. Also, you will have to learn where all the sensors are in order to clean and maintain them.
  4. 1976 Maverick No Recalls!

To finish the story on my 70 Chevelle SS 396. Cris and I were traveling east on 66. Sitting at the light at the intersection of 61, Cris asked how fast will this thing go? I turned north toward Boonville saying "Lets find out." After about 3/4 a mile, Cris yelled "How fast are we going?" I...
  5. Only dumb people buy Ford Mavericks.....

    Guilty as guessed.
  6. Aluminum Valve Covers

I like functional and adequate over pretty. Engineers, gotta find a way to show them off!
  7. Aluminum Valve Covers

And then GM engineering came out with valve cover reinforcements that distributed the load along the valve cover lip. This solution was not that much help. The reinforcement went under the VC bolts in an attempt to distribute the load. VCs still leaked in short order. So Ford wants to recreate...
  8. Aluminum Valve Covers

The old V8 aluminum valve covers with fins would warp, creating an oil leak. You could tweak the bolts once lightly to stop the leak. 10,000 to 20,000 miles down the road, it was time to replace the cork gaskets. An easy customer-pay job back then, not so easy now.
  9. Aluminum Valve Covers

I replaced the plastic filter cap assembly with an aluminum one on my 2017 Tacoma because I thought the aluminum one was stronger and more heat resistant. I did this when I first purchased it. It took 100 ft/lbs of torque to loosen it (dealer grease monkey should have been shot. Left them a bad...
  10. Got broadsided by a deer this morning.

Old Chevy parts man: The right side of a Chevy is when you are sitting in the truck. The right side of a Ford is observed when you are standing in front of the truck and you are looking back at the front. To avoid miscommunication, say drivers or passengers side.
  11. Trailer Light Module Recall

I went 50+ years without a trailer module and did just peachy towing utility trailers and campers. Now Ford comes along and screws things up. Thanks, Ford. SOOTFW
  12. Maverick Q1 2026 Sales Numbers

and the economy is in the dumper. I suspect that all brands are feeling the effect. Quick internet search: " New-vehicle sales in March fell 14% to 1.39 million units, according to GlobalData. Retail demand dropped sharply, down 16%, while fleet sales slipped 2.3%. "
  13. Opening a (Catch) Can Of Worms And Other Possibly Dumb Questions As A New Owner. (Long)

I ordered the Rival skid plate and decided not to install it. I want to inspect the underside of the engine for leaks etc any time I am underneath the vehicle and removing the plate would be a hassle. I didn't think it through before ordering....
  14. New toy to haul with my Maverick: 2006 Forest River Cabin A

On December 10, 2025 I was hauling leaves to the dump in my Maverick. A bag fell off the back of the trailer. I stopped and ran back to retrieve it. When I got back in the truck and proceeded down the highway, I noticed that the infotainment center was looking to pair my iPhone 15. I felt my...
  15. Speedometer Value Change?

GPS measures distance "As the crow flies", not taking into account hills, valleys, and dips in the road. The measuring wheel measures a true mile, although wheel slippage and human error is not taken into consideration.
  16. Speedometer Value Change?

Having used GPS to verify design work and find and mark graves, I know they are not accurate with the exception of the FARO system which is dead-nuts accurate for static measurements. GPS readings are subject to user error which could account for my distrust.
  17. Speedometer Value Change?

Mile markers are not perfectly spaced due to interference like bridges, overpasses, construction etc. They may be placed a few hundred feet off from the true mile. The road worker who planted (installed) the sign may not have given a rat’s behind and felt that somewhere close was good enough...
  18. Another windshield cracked...

This feature means nothing to me. I consider it an annoyance and a complete waste of time. My only response is a head-shake from side to side. It's right up there with my radio switching to channel 54 on it's own 3-4 times since I've owned it. BlueBoy has a lot of little quirks that I...
  19. When to change oil in time wise, not miles

In 1973 Ford and GM published in their manuals 7,500 miles between oil changes. Leaded gasoline. You couldn't see the dipstick through the blackness of the oil. This is one reason I don't implicitly believe what a manufacturer says or instructs.
  20. Start stop requirements gone

Ford and local dealers use Stop/Start in their sales promotions. They must love it. Or it's just an extra "fish" hook.
