The owner is on here. In the comments in the article, he shows a spreadsheet of his mileage over the last 6 or 8 fillups. I don't know where The Drive got the 39mpg, unless he stated he got that on a very specific trip.... We all know a 2.0T isn't getting that unless you are going 35mph for the...
Almost every tuner I have seen recently is locking the gearing in 4th. Initially yes, some dynoed through the first 4 gears, but that was because there was no way to lock into a gear like traditional automatics.
I don't have my Maverick yet. If you guys want to make sure, look at the trans for some part numbers and see what cross references. I don't take their word for gospel, but I have a hard time believing a trans meant for a max of 258 lbft is holding up to over 400lbft at the crank. I don't know...
I don't have my Maverick yet, or I would be doing the investigating myself. I was hoping someone would have posted part numbers and such of all the major components under the Mav. specifically for this reason.
It has been pretty widely reported that these use a rather small turbo compared to the other 2.0T cars.
We for sure will not see gains like the 2.7 and 3.5 Eco's do in the F150, however, gaining 40whp and roughly 60wtq isn't bad for your basic tune. That is an 18% jump in power. I'm going off...
Dang, just seen they raised their prices back up on their tunes! I guess I should have ordered my tunes even though I didn't have my Mav, lol.
How much is it for you to add another tune after the fact? I plan to order as many tunes as I can from the get go, hopefully they have the E30 and E50...
Any chance you have a draggy to compare things like 0-60 and 1/8th or 1/4 mile times to stock? Their dyno chart looked pretty impressive for just 93 octane! When I talked to them, they stated the trans is the same as the Edge ST, so the crazy peak torque early on is not a concern, which is...
I just gave you an example of how I was able to shave almost 3 tenths off of a 60' time, without "adding" any power to the tune.
Forget that I even bothered to add good info to your thread, enjoy your truck. I won't waste my time explaining things to someone not willing to learn. You are the...
Hey guys, I just wanted to add a small update on the graph shown. I talked to 5 star a couple days ago, and the low line is 87 octane stock, second line is 87 tuned, and highest line is 93 octane tuned. So we don't know yet what the difference between 87 and 93 is on the stock ecu programming.
How is this apple to oranges? I'm not comparing my F150 to your Mav, I'm giving you an example of how torque management is holding you back. Ask your tuner to look at my responses and see if he thinks I'm out in left field. You have a peak of 370+ WHEEL TORQUE, and you ran a 2.1 second 60'. You...
You have to remember that is with a stock computer.
For example: My F150 ran a best of a 1.97 second 60' with a 5 star tune on it, IIRC. After having 5 star remove the torque management, I ran a 1.69 second 60'. The factory torque management was only allowing 1.5# of boost on the launch at...
I guarantee there is more in it than a 2.0 60'. With a turbo this small, the only reason you can't launch it hard is because the torque management is not allowing it to build boost. Switching back to a lighter weight wheel/tire combo will obviously help this as well.
Didn't you run a 14.8...
Are you planning to have your tuner work on the torque management? We should probably be able to see 1.8 second 60' times without the nannies interfering. If it's anything like my F150, there will be a significant improvement.
I do like the sound! Did you try the method I mentioned about putting it in Low and letting it climb though the gears until you get to 4th, and then backing it down to 2-2500rpm and see if it would stay in the gear?
I would love to see a power v rpm graph!
John
No, that isn't how AWD works. There are some systems out there that do that to a degree. My Pilot had a VTM4 button, or something like that. It would lock all 4 wheels in up to 18mph then shut off, but AWD was still active over that speed, just not all 4 fully locked.
On the Mav's, AWD is...
