Yes this is common on most cars. Consumer reports did a study that showed over 45mph the drag of the windows down is greater than the energy of running the AC, so it's really not much of an issue to most.
The batteries in new EV's like a Tesla are sealed and this should not happen when they are underwater. The old Fiskar Karma had this issue. It can still happen, but the overall risk of battery packs catching on fire is lower than that of an ICE car catching on fire. Gas is easier to ignite...
Can you share where you got this information? I hadn't seen that the 23 had standard cruise control? Never-mind, it's right there on the ford website. Hooray! That makes me get something for waiting at least!
I will be doing 320 miles in 2 days which comes out to similar to you pistons. It's at about 70 the whole way.
I'm just thinking through things. I get 30-32 mpg with my jetta I have now, and it may not really make a big difference to have the hybrid setup.
Still waiting on my hybrid out here but I'm trying to do some planning. What kind of mileage do you guys get on the highway if you're going 70-75? I'm in Texas and the average for my weekly long drive commute is between 70 and 75.
I'd take 4 myself. This saves you title and tax issues.
I have one on order and a beater I was going to trade in, but the delays we're so long I had to fix up the beater and now it's good for another 50k miles. If you are in the same position I think you'll never get the chance again to make 4...
My experience from being involved with Priuses for some time is that when it starts a noticeable decline, the decline is very slow and you will have a long time where it continues to be functional yet degraded. At some point you'll just have a gas engine. It's kind of like a broken escalator...
They don't want to build these. The demand has been overwhelming since it first went live, and they aren't seriously trying to increase build capacity.
If you have other cars to drive, I would personally sell it and downgrade to a cheaper model. I'd order now in either case. I am actually surprised at that markup being only 2.5k. Id put it on facebook marketplace for 32k and see what happens.
